Jovanovic, Degen and Voronin were utter ****. Punts. ****, but you could sort of see the logic in signing them on freebies.

Babel at £10.5m is the sort of person that a majority of this forum would be crying if we hadn't signed him after the U21 2007 Euro's and he'd have gone to Arsenal or similar.

    Dossena - ****.

Cavalieri was a decent keeper. Heck, I wouldn't mind him being here now actually. Same goes for Insua and Riera. Leto has also done well since leaving us.

The rest of the above players were signed for peanuts.

I'm not saying that Rafa didn't have his faults, because he did. But you're talking a load of old cunt, frankly.

We all have our own opinions and there's nothing wrong with that, but stop talking utter ****ing gash ffs.

Rafa spent a lot of money and made a couple of duff signings. But only him and Houllier have actually spent money wisely as LFC manager in the last 25 years.
Get your head out your own arse and read all the posts before you post ****e

I was merely saying to Gibbo that Rafa has in fact wasted over 100m over the course of his tenure. Whether they were signed for peanuts or not. Did I mention that Rafa did not spend money wisely? I did state Rafa made some great signings and should still be at the club

And where the **** did I mention Reira?

Babel. Oh please Wenger saw no interest in him after his initial assesment. And Paco was right about him at the time. Unfortunatley Rafa was too stubborn to take advice from a long serving friend.

And I disagree with the Keane signing 'was good at the time' - Proven crap. Apart from the Irish fans the majority did not want him at the club. Many wanted us at the time to spend that money towards Augero or maybe it was Villa look up the pre signing Threads.

      Nah, bollocks.

Ooh, so I slipped Riera in there my mistake.

Head out of my own arse indeed ffs. Have a word sunshine.

Is our squad far far weaker then Rafa's first?

We were all over the shop in the league in 04-05 but we still finished 5th.
if you compare midfields then you can see just how lightweight our current lads are. its far too easy for teams to play through a three man midfield, and even easier to play through three midgets
removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

Simple answer - they aren't. They're decent, but bollocks are they (or their partnership) world class.

Nonsense is it the only way, that's just the easy way (until the baliffs come calling). Unfortunately, for every club in the world other than a select few, throwing buckets of cash at a problem just isn't an option.

Maybe the issue then is your expectations? This is a team that has failed to come close to challenging for top 4 under Rafa, Hodgson, Kenny and now Rodgers. In fact we've been going backwards each season. To suddenly expect that to get turned around into an instant top 4 challenge, especially considering how light our squad is now, is ridiculous imo.

Please don't start with that "apologist" crap, it was horrible when people used it with Rafa and it still is now. People are entitled to their opinioins about our manager without them being treated so distainfully.

Hodgson got sacked for being the very antethesis of a Liverpool manager. A guy who disrespected the fans and the club every time he opened his mouth, and who fell over himself to suck up to Mr Ferguson. A guy who tried to bomb Agger out of the club and thought Poulson and Konchesky were appropriate purchases. A guy who had no plan and under whom the club had no future. Results under Rodgers may not be all that different, but everything else is.

              Because we're not good enough.

Seriously. This team has not been good enough now for 4 seasons. If it was just one season or one manager, then I could buy the fault being somewhere else. But this is a consistent pattern. We quite obviously overrate our squad and our best players.

That's not true - in Rafa's 'disaster' season, the one season he didn't get us into the Champions League and the season for which he was sacked, we challenged for the top 4 pretty much until the end. Here is the table on 25th April 2010 after 36 games - we were 2 points behind 4th with the best goal difference (+28 ) of all challengers.

We were also in the semi-finals of the Europa League, seconds from reaching the final.

When Rodgers was appointed it was widely agreed by many that 3 transfer windows were required to shape the team to Rodger's likening, and at the same time right Kenny's mistakes, and to a certain extent, Rafa's.

Yet a few bad results and the kneejerkers come out in force. We will go absolutely nowhere except down if we sack Rodgers within the next year and a half at least.

Lol, good spot. Does an alarm go off somewhere when anyone is a touch loose with a stat about Rafa?

But yeah, its true we did challenge for top 4 that season, though at no point were we actually good value for 4th spot and we did ultimately finish 7 points off in 7th. It just felt worse, having almost won the title the previous year. Still, my point was that an obvious deterioration had already started then - mostly thanks to H&G obviously but I think most people would admit the players we had underperformed that year. Hell we finished behind Villa

Rafa was struggling to get what he wanted out of that core player group in his last season imo, and every, very possibly lesser manager since has struggled even more, aided by further squad attrition, crap buys etc. This to me indicates that at least partly we should be admitting that our players just aren't as good as some fans seem to think they are.
