I agree with this although it's likely we'll be out of all the cup competitions and about 7th in the league by mid January.

I'm not confident right now that Rodgers will still be here come the start of next season.

Really doesn't take the average fan long to considering jumping ship now does it? We're above Man Utd, Arsenal, Spurs, Everton AKA the competition despite an uneven start vs tough opposition. I'm not even close to jumping off the Balotelli bandwagon, never mind even remotely considering jumping off the Rodgers bandwagon

And probably many others that I can't think of right now. Funnily enough, none of those were against the reigning European Champions. A team with hundreds of millions of pounds worth of talent in excellent form.

This is Rodgers' first experience of Champions League football.
Heaviest home defeat in Europe last night. Could and should have been worse but for Real slipping back into 1st gear.

Don't put last night alongside the games you've listed, it was a spanking and make no mistake. Nobody expected a win, but we wanted us to be competitive and organised.

Amazing some are even thinking, let alone discussing, Rodgers as a future departee. Not to say he's untouchable but I haven't thought about him not being our manager just like I don't generally think about getting hit by a bus/train/car everyday.

Brendan will never win everyone over. Not even if he wins the league. Guaranteed.

Bayern got absolutely smoked 0-4 by Real in an absolute mauling. They are pretty ****ing good Real. We aren't even remotely in Bayern's league so why be surprised that the defending Champions of Europe could really hurt us.

Both those Valencia games were every bit as humbling as last night.
They were totally dominant in each game, completely swept us aside.
We were lucky to get away with just 0-1 at Anfield, it was as much a
              non-contest as last night was.

...and that Barca game with Overmars, Kluivert, Rivaldo - I don't think we saw any of the ball in the second half let alone get hold of it. They were devastating and 1-3 was massively flattering to us. 30+ passes to Overmars goal... unbelievable [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1C--gtzvDUk"](Overmars Goal) Barcelona vs Liverpool [UCL 2001-02] - YouTube[/ame]

I was at both the Barcelona and Valencia games (at home) and they both remain the best performances I've ever seen in the flesh. Valencia were probably better. Never seen anything like it, the team was an absolute machine.

I went to the pre-season friendly against Valencia in 2003. It finished 2-0 to Valencia, and they were just as destructive.

We couldn't get anywhere near them. They passed it through us, around us, over us and none of our players had any clue on how to stop them. All I remember thinking was wow.

Yes Valencia were one of Europe's elite then, but their manager came to us and soon enough we were one of Europe's elite too. Brendan is young enough to still adapt his own philosophy so there's time but the game vs real Madrid was less competitive than the scoreline suggests.

He's had over two years on the training ground to sort it out and it's progressively got worse so not sure how he can claim that's all he needs. Didn't expect him to say anything else though.

Massive achilles heal for him. His stubbornness in this regard may cost him (and us) dear in the long run.

I thought he was a genius last season but the more I see us this season the more I think the only genius was Luis.

Makes the Sakho sidelining stranger. He's been around the club over a year and has had the "benefit" of our defensive coaching for all that time yet can't get in the team.

I agree that the lack of time argument doesn't stand up because we had plenty of time last year but still couldn't defend.

Hes just not a very good defensive coach. Real Madrid didn't play with a defensive midfield player on Wednesday using modric and kroos as their two, but they still looked very solid and well organised.

The arguments / excuses / justifications whatever they are don't stack up.
