The worrying thing is the comments like this have increased he is manager of Liverpool Football Club he really needs to think before making comments like that as they really don't do him any good and it appears he is making excuses instead of trying to resolve the issues

I hope it was a momentarily slip and he regroups removes the emotion from the team selection and just picks the best team on merit and performances and if it means dropping Stevie G and Lovern etc so be it.

No this guy is a football consultant and he did a presentation at soccer ex in the past and he said that football clubs including bayern had used a similar model.

Judging by that interview do they ****. Even with CL football we can't sign top players. Unless we get a billionaire owner willing to pay the wages we're always going to miss out.

The players we signed this summer we could of got regardless of CL football. Very disappointing but not at all surprising to hear from Rodgers that Our top targets didn't want to come.

There is another point of view that was mentioned by someone on twitter. He basically said that clubs when planning for the future look at the development of their strategy in phases or cycles.

So that to get from A to D requires 3 different but sequential steps so that the club evolves not in one phase but 3 different ones which involve the use of 3 different managers over perhaps 6-9 seasons. The first one to get the ball rolling (Kenny), the second to help build on that and put sow the seeds for something special (perhaps Brendan) and the 3rd or final one to deliver what the club sees as their ultimate target.

Maybe its the other way around, maybe we see Brendan as a stepping stone to something / someone else. Or just another phase in the development cycle.

Phew, it sounds like it is all going to be ok then. I wonder who the stage 3 manager will be, he sounds amazing...

Well, Rodgers did like he does them all but apparently Sturridge was pushed hard by Fallows and Hunter. Knew him well from City, and they pushed hard for him the previous summer when Rodgers turned his nose up at the chance to sign him due to doubts he had about Sturridge's attitude.

You could say Coutinho was a textbook Fallows/Hunter player, in terms of profile, age, talent, potential etc.

Interesting. I really don't know what to make of the situation, personally, I prefer one man to be accountable as its easy to then get to the route of the problem, otherwise in times of trouble everyone one has a scapegoat.

I hope things turn around quickly.

I'm just saying that maybe its not Rodgers who is using us as a stepping stone maybe its the other way round.

if you think, which of any of the best managers in the world like ancelottti, mourinho, guardiola, klopp etc... Would tolerate having their players bought for them without their final decisions. My guess they wouldn't so are we using brendans time as our manager to build the squad as our vision sees fit but not necessarily his.

I have no idea but why would our owners give more power to the transfer committee than the manager of the club.

Suppose its back to the Europa League next season if we are lucky.
