I think the annoyance Rodgers had was missing out on Alexis Sanchez. We offered him more money than he was by Arsenal, but he chose them over us. Imagine him in our team instead of Mario...... We wouldn't have been perfect but we'd have been better than we have been.

As for Costa and the rest, they were last season and we missed out on them for different reasons. But regardless of the London connection, if we were a regular champions league team that would help away the balance in our favour. An example is that if us and Spurs went for a player, we'd win. Arsenal are a similar level to us really, but are a solid team always in the CL. Chelsea are streets ahead.

But anyway you look at it, we have a wider net than the likes of So'ton. Being where we are in the table is not just down to us not being a London club.
    Forwards.......

Who would Sanchez have played upfront with in the absence of Sturridge???

Because hes another one that for me cant play the lone striker role

He can, here's an extract from a recent interview

"Let me show you something I always keep with me. Just a little book, Collective Meditations, and it's a collection of philosophers, writers, thinkers, native American wisdom, and it's really showing you that the spiritual side needs as much care and attention as the physical side. It's about feeding the soul, yeah? Evolving spirituality. And a foreword by Duncan Goodhew. Its something I read extracts from to the group at halftime"

Right now I feel like I'm the only one who still believes in Brendan. I know we are quite a bit away from a top 4 spot but I genuinely believe we will improve and go on a good run. We're playing **** but I believe it's temporary and we do have good players. I expect we will be stronger after the break, Lallana will have a big impact on our season, it's just a matter of time before it clicks and Brendan gets it right again

If Brendan succeeds I will doff my cap to you two. If not, I expect a doffing towards my general direction.

ffs! Rick has only been back a week and the manager is already moaning about trying harder to sign top players!!

So if we finish 7th (which is what I expect) will Rodgers' excuse that he had Sturridge injured for large chunks of the season save him in FSG's eyes remembering what they did to Kenny and the Red Sox's coach in 2012?

I guess we'll see if we finish as low as 7th (I don't think we will). They can be ruthless when they need to be though, I have no doubts about that.

Reckon we'll finish 5th myself & FSG will give him another year.
                              3rd place. Worst champions ever.

I think when you consider the other teams we're competing against for top 4 (Chelsea, City, Arsenal, United) you'd have to consider 5th about level par
