With such fine margins, one piece of back luck can undo anyone's title bid.
Look at Kompany's miskick, Gerrard's slip, Terry's own goal. Funny that these were all committed by their team's talisman!
We've gone on an incredible run to put ourselves in a position we probably have no right to be in at this stage of our development and this had brought guaranteed CL qualification and a tilt at the title.
Whatever happens, we cannot criticise the team as we don't have the experience of squad depth/quality compared to City or Chelsea.Was muß, das muß.

I have just looked at this thread and seen the comments post Chelsea by Norbs. I had a similar discussion earlier this week over lunch with a Man City & Coventry fan. They both said similar to Norbs.
My arguments were thus;
I agreed Chelsea at home was the toughest of our three games left. I accepted that a point would have been a decent result. I didn't accept that we should have played for a point. We can look at it any way that we like, but that was a weakened Chelsea side that came to Anfield. We were also at home. The onus was on us to dominate the ball & try and win the game.
I'm not above playing in a negative fashion when needs must. Had that been full strength Chelsea I'd have said lets take the point. But at home, with the stronger team, you have to go for the win. They were there for the taking IMO. That was my honest opinion prior to kick off.
Imagine this scenario, we play out a dour goalless draw to Chelsea, then we went to Palace and drew that. Or drew with Newcastle. People would have blamed Brendan & say we should have beat Chelsea when we had the opportunity. In reality it's a no win situation if we don't win the title.
I think over the course of a season you should try & win every game from the start. If it's a tough ask sometimes you have to accept the draw. I think that approach will see you finish with more points than a negative style when you are a strong team. I could compare us to Chelsea right now & my points proven. Fact of the matter is the two most positive attacking sides in the league will likely finish first & second.
I think going into the Chelsea game our confidence was sky high. We needed 7 points from 3 games. I will never alter my opinion in saying we were right to go for the win.Forwards.......

I don't really want to drag this up again but my point was that Mourinho played Rodgers and I stick by that. Mourinho spent the whole week building up to the game sowing the seed that they were weakened and without a hope in hell. As a result I think we took our foot off the pedal and allowed them to just sit without much going on at either end. As the game went on the nerves intensified and we ended up gifting them a goal. We didn't change our tactics for the game yet looked nothing of the side that had mullered so many other top sides this season. They nullified us and were happy with a point and we should've known that and accepted the same, IMO.
