And even if we were in interested, He would have earned more and been in the CL with Chelsea, Why would he come to us? unless he had an allergy to plastics.

Cahill struck me as an odd signing at the time, I didn't think much to him but in the last 18 months he's been mostly tremendous. Much improved.

I've teased my mate many times over this. At the time we were linked with both Cahill and Rodger Johnson. I said to my mate that I felt Cahill had what it took to make it at a big club, and that Johnson was overrated. He felt the opposite. He hates it every time I remind him now, and I remind him a lot

Cahill moved in the following January transfer window so would likely have cost more had he gone that summer.

Man U, Spurs and Arsenal were all reportedly sniffing round him as well as Chelsea so doubt he's have been an option anyway.

I think mourinho's style suits him, I think he'd have a tough time with us.

removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

Chelsea's defenders look good because their whole team is build around protecting the back four. Our system makes defenders look worse than they are because it leaves them exposed and theyre put under pressure due to our commitment in getting forward.

Basically our defenders aren't as **** as everyone thinks they are, its just that theyre constantly exposed to waves of attacks and don't get a lot of help from the midfield. That could also explain why we think the defenders are making individual errors because there under more pressure than they should be individually and collectively

But that doesn't explain kolos own goal.

Long term, academy and youth players that are promoted to the side provide far better vfm and are more committed. A young manager with radical, yet attainable, ideas and an intelligent approach to the media. FFS, we're in the first 6 weeks of his first league campaign and some fans are getting twitchy already. It's one thing to say 'give him time' but we're talking about a 2-3 year plan before we see what Rodgers has as his vision. It's going to be difficult, especially if we don't start to climb the table soon but no one was ever relegated in September. I think the improvement in our play, by which I mean how comfortable our players look with a new system and how seemlessly some new faces are being introduced, is clearly evident. It's not taking years, it's taking weeks. The referee beat us yesterday, had we fought the game on a level footing (ie with 11 men) then we would've won comfortably.
September 2012. Thankfully we have the owners we have. The one thing they've done is trust him. Look at United where Moyes is being monitored and patronised. Either you have faith in your man or you don't.

Yeah but wasnt he out of contract that summer. Spending 7m in Jan when a player was out of contract in the summer is something not many clubs can afford to do.

BR: Jordan and Raheem deserve call ups

Brendan Rodgers believes the England re-calls for Jordan Henderson and Raheem Sterling is just rewards for the duo’s outstanding form this season.

The pair were among five Liverpool players along with Steven Gerrard, Daniel Sturridge and Glen Johnson named in Roy Hodgson's 30-man squad for the friendly with Denmark at Wembley on March 5.

For Henderson, it could mean a first appearance for his country since November last year - and Rodgers feels it is fully deserved.

In an exclusive interview with Liverpoolfc.com at Melwood, the boss said: "It's a wonderful demonstration of how hard he's been working, but importantly how well he's been playing.

"England have got a lot of good midfield players, a lot of outstanding players - and Jordan is up there among them.

"I read a comment a few weeks back from Jack Wilshire talking about Jordan saying he was probably the most difficult opponent he's played against because of how hard he runs, how he presses and how good he is at being on the ball.

"Jack Wilshere is a wonderful young player, so that tells you the level Jordan is at. He is at a real good level.

"The thing about him is, before I came down to do this interview, I was speaking with him upstairs and he was analysing his game and areas he can improve with our analysts. He was then speaking to other people in terms of improving his performance.

"He's relentless that way. He wants to be the best he can be - and England is a better squad when Jordan is in it."

There's also a place for Sterling in the England squad, meaning his outstanding Liverpool form could be rewarded with a second cap for his country.

"In the period since he came into the team, he's been outstanding," added Rodgers. "He's really grown as a young player - it's easy to forget he's still only 19 years of age.

"There's no doubt in his position that he's one of the best players in England. Over the course of these last few months, you could argue there hasn't been anyone better than him in the England squad in that position.

"It's a great reward for him, his maturity and how he's approached the pressures of playing because he's played with a wonderful freedom and is working very, very hard for the team.

"He's very deserving of his opportunity."
