He's no more horrendous than Lambert. It's about creating space for midfielders. We had midfielders as well as forwards chipping in with goals last season. Borini can run past defenders, create space for midfielders by dragging defenders out

Can, Henderson, Sterling, Coutinho, Markovic and lesser extent Lallana can all add energy in midfield and press.

They should be playing more frequently

I'm actually not convinced that you can get Markovic, Coutinho AND Lallana functioning on a pitch all at the same time

I wouldnt be adverse to trying Markovic upfront (in a pair) and one of Coutinho or Lallana at the tip of the diamond

The current system with 58 centralised attacking midfielders all stood within 3 yards of each other is absolutely embarrassing to watch

How do we know? We havent even ****ing tried it

One thing is absolutely certain is that the current system doesnt work, it has us too deep, not pressing and has completely stymied all attacking prowess we have by leaving the lone striker completely isolated and the numerous attacking midfielders all congregated in the centre of the pitch jerking each other off

No point talking about last season, we had the two best best strikers in the league and Gerrard doing well in the playmaker role until he got found out towards the end of the season.

No matter what tactics and formations you employ, you need good players, the most important thing is the quality of player. We have no strikers, not one decent midfielder and about 50 attacking midfielders. No-one to play the gerrard role, no decent combination of midfielders to play ahead of that player, five players for the tip of the diamond an not a single decent striker.

I was talking to my manager about this and said the exact same thing, credit to Basle for a really well worked goal but as soon as it got to 3 or 4 touches without a challenge from any of our lads, you just knew where the ball was going.

Doesnt mean he has to dish up the **** he is dishing up at the moment. Can play with tempo and press opposition. Have the players to do it even to an extent.

If this is his solution when Sturridge who is a sick note is injured he has no hope. Either all ou attack or all out defence and no inbetween

They dont fear us because of the following

They have one lone isolated striker to mark

The other attacking players all come inside when they have the ball and try and pass, pass pass and work intricate patterns but thats pretty easy to defend against

There is zero pressure on the ball, so opposition players anywhere on the pitch have time to play whatever pass they want be it short or even a long punt

Even in the unlikely even that we win any balls punted down the pitch at our back four, we never compete for 2nd balls

Lack of pressing also means we cant push up the back four and play offside which means we will look to give ground and go deeper

When we are in possession, we pass backwards and sideways too often, and when we do have the ball because our starting positions are much deeper they have further to travel with the ball in support of the forward

Completely ****ing fed up with watching it and thats before you even get to the weekly schoolboy errors played out by the back four from open play and or set pieces

                            Its ****ing embarrassing

I honestly think Brendan has run out of ideas / lost his bottle

One of the reasons for his success last season was he was bold, be it in team selection, substitutions or tactics.

This year hes been the complete opposite and I think it will inevitably lead to him leaving the club

As limited as Borini is, and boy is he limited, we should be playing a diamond with him as one of the forwards. His pace and movement would provide space for others, while his energy when pressing would also help the team.

He might only score the odd goal but it would mean that we would create more chances, chances which Lambert at al would have a good chance of finishing.

As it stands we look soft at the back, pedestrian in midfield and totally toothless in attack.

The club's biggest mistake in the summer was not replacing Suarez with an inferior but crucially similar type of striker. They had the moment that Suarez signed his new contract last December to start drawing up a short list of replacements.
