I'm actually not convinced that you can get Markovic, Coutinho AND Lallana functioning on a pitch all at the same time
I wouldnt be adverse to trying Markovic upfront (in a pair) and one of Coutinho or Lallana at the tip of the diamond
The current system with 58 centralised attacking midfielders all stood within 3 yards of each other is absolutely embarrassing to watchOriginally posted by Lecter View PostHow do we know? We havent even ****ing tried it
One thing is absolutely certain is that the current system doesnt work, it has us too deep, not pressing and has completely stymied all attacking prowess we have by leaving the lone striker completely isolated and the numerous attacking midfielders all congregated in the centre of the pitch jerking each other off

Who you playing for these days?Originally posted by Slinky Skills View PostI was talking to my manager about this and said the exact same thing, credit to Basle for a really well worked goal but as soon as it got to 3 or 4 touches without a challenge from any of our lads, you just knew where the ball was going.

Do West Ham have better players than we do??Originally posted by cream View PostNo point talking about last season, we had the two best best strikers in the league and Gerrard doing well in the playmaker role until he got found out towards the end of the season.
No matter what tactics and formations you employ, you need good players, the most important thing is the quality of player. We have no strikers, not one decent midfielder and about 50 attacking midfielders. No-one to play the gerrard role, no decent combination of midfielders to play ahead of that player, five players for the tip of the diamond an not a single decent striker.
Southampton???
Ludogorets gave us 2 decent games and they are a ****ing Bulgarian pub team that cost 50p to put together
I am furious at some of the signings hes made, but you cant tell me that the current system in anyway benefits the players we have - new or old
I personally think hes changed the system because he has 280 attacking midfielders rather than a lack of forwards
Hes spunked tons of money in areas we didnt need and he has to justify that expenditure by getting as many of them on the pitch at one time as is feasibly possible in whatever bizarre formation he can musterBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. Of course it will. A change of tactics and system along with selections would make a difference. They are all wrong at the moment.Originally posted by cream View PostNo one said it was the solution. We are **** because we have a lot of **** players or players that are playing ****. No formation is going to change that.

I dont like Borini he'd be my absolute last resortOriginally posted by Rich View PostAs limited as Borini is, and boy is he limited, we should be playing a diamond with him as one of the forwards. His pace and movement would provide space for others, while his energy when pressing would also help the team.
He might only score the odd goal but it would mean that we would create more chances, chances which Lambert at al would have a good chance of finishing.
As it stands we look soft at the back, pedestrian in midfield and totally toothless in attack.
The club's biggest mistake in the summer was not replacing Suarez with an inferior but crucially similar type of striker. They had the moment that Suarez signed his new contract last December to start drawing up a short list of replacements.
I would switch back to the 2 up top, with diamond behind
I'd try either Sterling or Markovic in one of the striker positions (with Lambert)
One of Lallana, Gerrard or Coutinho at the tip of the diamond and Can & Henderson behind them with Lucas holding
Push up the pitch, press the ball high and see how this pans out - you never know it might just work
Alternatively we can continue with what we are doing now

Not saying Brendan is blameless, but going on about last season is pointless because we don't have the same personnel. The diamond worked last season mainly because of Sturridge and especially Suarez, employing that same formation isn't gonna magically make us better. Recruitment is the biggest problem at the club and has been for a long time.Brandt - Keita - Van Dijk - Sessegnon

I'm not a supporter of Lec, we have a healthy difference of opinions. But Lec is right that we should be playing at least a little like last season, even without the personnel. Its got to be better than what we're throwing (up) every week.Originally posted by cream View PostAnd how many of them started the game the other night?

There's no strategy to what we're doing now. This doesn't make us fully qualified managers all of a sudden but some things you can see without needing qualifications. I didn't want to see it but its right there jerking off at me. F*cks sake Lec, I blame you for that one!
One tit for another.

Well he played Gerrard, Sterling and Henderson who again all congregate inside when played in a 4-2-3-1 systemOriginally posted by cream View PostAnd how many of them started the game the other night?

As for the diamond HOW DO YOU KNOW IT WONT WORK???
Have we tried it in any game other than Spurs, where by chance we gunder-****ed them even with Balotelli playing
Lets just not bother changing and keep the same system we are now, and just accept that this season is a complete ****ing waste of space
To be honest thats the attitude that has got us where we are now and it is the attitude you see on the pitch week in week out
Theres no belief in the system and an acceptance that it wont work amongst the players
If Brendan isnt going to try and change something then he should just throw himself in front of the juggernaut
Grow some ****ing bollocks and try something different would be my adviceBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

Only reason why I'd opt for Borini is that he's a striker, with a striker's movement, and IMO his pace and movement is decent, it's his control and finishing which are poor. I'm not really a fan of square pegs/round holes etc.Originally posted by Lecter View PostI dont like Borini he'd be my absolute last resort

While, both Sterling and Markovic are superior players, they might not make the same moves and therefore create the space for others to operate in. I also think Sterling's best position is as a #10 so that's where I'd like to see him play, regardless of the other 15 players we've bought that operate there. (As you say, that's another worry about Rodgers buying a number of very similar players)
Still, any change to two uptop diamond would be welcomed by me, regardless of who partners who upfront.
Given current injuries (I'm assuming Toure is back fit), my team and formation against United would look like:
Mignolet
Johnson - Toure - Sakho - Moreno
Lucas
Henderson - Can
Sterling
Lambert - Borini
Save Gerrard for the last 30 minutes.James Philip Milner Fanclub #1
Curtis Julian Jones Fanclub #1
