Nope, it was the big bad transfer committee that 'forced' its players on him, so he'd have no business claiming credit for 'foundation building'.

            Same here mate,

Fancy the club trying to put a system in place that isn't reliant on just the manager.

It's just a forum and has no bearing on anything, but it's crazy how disrespectful people can be. Rodgers deserved to be sacked in the end, but he clearly cared a great deal about the club, its history, and its fans. He was sentimental and saccharine at times, but he was genuinely proud to be our manager and now that he's gone he doesn't deserve the incessant ridicule.

Tomkins often has good points but he is badly in need of an editor. He is his own word enemy. For example in this article, everything from

"I’ve recently had some sympathy for Neil Ashton of The Daily Mail,......Benítez is at Real Madrid now, but he’s not buying the players." can be deleted as it has nothing to add to the point he is trying to make.

The rest of the article is very very good.

Disturbs me how much I agree with you nowadays. We must both have mellowed with age.
                  3rd place. Worst champions ever.

I wish Tompkins would provide an executive summary for those of us who actually have stuff to do in the course of the day.

I have never read more than 2 paragraphs of a Tomkins article. Never will. He could half any article and still make the points he probably does.

                              THIS! A million times this

I do wonder why I have an opinion on what people I've never met say about someone else I've never met, with the caveat that that person won't ever hear about it anyway; but I don't like to read it either
I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"

I haven't really noticed any ridicule. People were fed up with Rodgers and were right to be critical of him. He's gone now anyway.
