Terrible move - almost anyone (see Ronnie Delia) can manage Celtic to a League title. He'll get no credit for that and it won't make him any more attractive for a larger club in England. No ambition taking this job.

Rangers are back so it's not the walk in the park it was. He should get a few trophies on his CV up there and then land a middling job on the premier league. Not sure about lack of ambition, no top club will take him on so going somewhere to fight for titles is a good move in my book.

So lose the title to Rangers...that's even worse!

Got to agree. I think it would be a bad move for Rodgers, he needs a decent Premier League club to come in for him and try and convince the doubters that he isn't a fraud.

Jokin aren't ya? If Brendan wins the league with Celtic, and qualifies them for the CL he'll be thought of as one of the top managers in world football, in his mind.

That's all that really matters tbh.

I think he's making a smart choice. If he took a PL job and failed, he may struggle to restore his rep. Realistically he is not going to **** it up at Celtic and if he can get them through to the CL Group stages he'll be well thought of.

Celtic beat Barca in the CL as recently as 2012, so the potential is massive if he can get the team right. I'd imagine a lot will depend on how much cash he is given, because the last few seasons Celtic have spent very little.

...the possibility remains that he will be further exposed as a limited coach should they get through in Europe.

*ugh, feels wrong to be saying positive things about Celtic...

If he wins a few league titles, and gets Celtic playing attractive football, as well as displaying a decent showing in Europe, then he could easily put himself in the window for a mid-table position in the Premier League, and still keep his ambitions of coaching abroad alive.

My view is if he moves there he's putting himself in the Gordon Strachan bracket. I think a 9th placed Prem team would be better for him. Swansea or some **** like that.

I think he is in the Strachan bracket. He just doesn't realise it yet!

                          Strachan's interviews were funny though.
                          3rd place. Worst champions ever.

Neil Lennon is the most successful Celtic manager of recent times and he struggled to get a job in the English top flight. Ended up at Bolton.

But they played like Stoke, ****ing **** tactics, that's how they beat Barca btw.

Hopefully they will take Ibe on loan and he can score 35 league goals.
