Yes it does. As a friend he may put honesty before loyalty. Lets face it, Bayern are coming into an exciting new Spanish led era and this could be the ideal time for him to join. I am sure Sami would have nothing but good things to say about Germany judging by how happy he himself seems there.Originally posted by fred_plasticine View Postwhy would hyypia advise him to join bayern munich? doesn't make sense, does it?"Its not about the long ball or the short ball, its about the right ball." I really don't think Sami would be that selfish when giving advice to a friend. Maybe I am wrong though.Originally posted by Gibbo View PostSurely he wouldn't tell a very good player to go to one of his rivals though.
That hurts his teams chances of winning the league even more.

I would have thought the opposite, Sami won't want Xabi plying his trade for the opposition. Plus, I suspect Bayern don't need Xabi. If he doesn't resign fro Madrid, he may return to us but on a reduced salary, this can be made up in image rights, his shirts will sell by the sackful.Originally posted by Tee View PostDidn't Xabi have a great relationship with Sami Hyypia? I am sure if there is a chance of him going to Bayern Munchen, Sami will advise him not to miss especially as Xabi is reaching the twilight years of his career. Those that hid Anne Frank were breaking the law.

Wow, that's an insight. Forget Sami and Xabi, would you give your friend bad advice because it's in your interests?
I think that's unusual. I hope so anyway because it's borderline sociopathy..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

Maybe, maybe not, but answer the question: would you personally lie to one of your friends in order to protect your own interests at the expense of theirs, on a matter of that significance where the possible benefit to you is indirect and unquantifiable but probably marginal at most?.

exciting new spanish led era? now that remains to be seen. and having good things to say about germany doesn't mean you have good things to say about bayern munich the club or bavaria or munich for that matter.Originally posted by Tee View PostYes it does. bayern are on top again, without a doubt. but they're still a club rife with politics and egos too big for one board room. they have a style as a club that doesn't appeal to anyone, you know.

No I would not, but Sami advising him not to go to Bayern is not exactly lying, it would just be his opinion.Originally posted by Neil Young View PostMaybe, maybe not, but answer the question: would you personally lie to one of your friends in order to protect your own interests at the expense of theirs, on a matter of that significance where the possible benefit to you is indirect and unquantifiable but probably marginal at most? Those that hid Anne Frank were breaking the law.

Sure, I wouldn't do it either. And clearly it depends on what his opinion actually is.
I don't know Hyypia but he seems like a decent man and I can't believe he'd put his own interests above his friend's in the way you imply. But f*ck it, it's a bloody stupid thing to have an opinion about, let alone disagree about.
