Love Stevie but don't see him as a manager. Gave everything for the club but binned off Rafa to play CM under Hodge.

Steven Gerrard will turn down the chance to become the manager of MK Dons, it has been reported.

The former Liverpool and England midfielder has held preliminary talks with the League One club, who have been without a permanent manager since Karl Robinson was sacked on 23 October.

Gerrard said he would consider his options after it was announced on Tuesday that he would be leaving Major League Soccer side LA Galaxy.

It was reported by Sky Sports that Gerrard had been offered the MK Dons job and that he would confirm on Monday whether he will accept it.

Later on Saturday, ESPN FC said sources close to Gerrard have disclosed that the 36-year-old will turn down the chance to become the Dons’ new boss.
He's waiting for the call isn't he?

Yeah let's hope he gets it. He should be back where he belongs.

Just imagine. 5 years time after Jurgen has won the league 5 times and we are just about to close down our 9th Champions League trophy. He announces its time to step down and let someone else have a play as football has gotten to easy.

In rides Xabi Alonso and his new assistant manager Steven Gerrard to take over the reigns and get us challenging for La Decima

This is just the start of that process.

It's the right thing to do turning down MK Dons job. He'd be better joining our academy and learning from Critchley and Inglethorpe.

Bring him back I say. Can learn a hell of a lot from Klopp.

i am not sure but i think you might be right.

5 years ago I was full sure that Carragher would be a manager. But I suspect that he doesn't want to travel, see the stress that it can bring, doesn't need the money and is more than happy getting paid to watch football and talk about it afterwards for Sky TV.

I also thought that Roy Keane would be a good manager. And I think he might still be. But I think it is rare that a top player can become a top manager. For every Guardiola or Conte, there are numerous people who have failed.

For me, if he wants to give it a go, then he would have the best chance possible by having an experienced head as his assistant. So if Gerrard could convince someone like Phil Thompson or Sammy Lee to be his assistant, then he would at least have a good sounding board in place.

Yeah... could be John Barnes all over again.

We have as much clue that Gerrard will be as bad as Graham Souness or Roy Keane, as we do that he'll be a hit like Guardiola, Simeone or Conte. With those odds its worth taking a punt - specially as he has Klopp to learn from. And you know Gerrard will listen attentively if Klopp successfully wins us league titles.

Souness at least had success in Scotland... worst manager we ever had though... at least Hodgeson did not have a clue. Souness actively dismantled a decent side... Paul Stewart and Michael Thomas... I thought it was a joke when I heard we were signing him... he was rubbish, apart from a half decent shot and in the air. Could not pass... basically completely inadequate for a Liverpool midfielder. Was Piechinik his too. I swear he must of had some kinda bet down the bookies on how **** he could make us.
