And if he does alright, then he's up for a lower PL level job, something he'd be unlikely to get without the experience of managing a first team.

That's how I see it - people don't care about Scottish football outside of Scotland, so as long as he doesn't completely **** up and finish 5th or get sacked mid-season it won't harm his reputation. And he'll get guaranteed European managerial experience and a 50/50 chance of picking up a trophy every season.

I wonder if discussions have been had with Klopp, both in terms of whether it would be a good move for him and if he did take it, the possibilities of using some of the fringe first team players as loans?

It is about as high profile a job as you want up here, and he will know all about it once he starts. The stakes are very high, therefor the potential to **** up is higher than normal.

You would have thought he definitely would have had a chat with Jurgen, mind you Jurgen has been pretty busy himself over the last few weeks..!

I can never wish any good towards Rangers so I cant even wish him good luck.

This is like a free hit for him. Give it a go and if it crashes and burns no one will remember it. Much.

I think it's an exciting move for him and why not?

He has the cachet to attract decent players, either on loan or those looking to use this as a stepping stone to the Premier League.

Have you heard of John Barnes.

No point in spamming this thread with negativity, I hope he confounds the odds and the players he brings on loan do well.

There already talk of Skrtel and Torres moving to Rangers

Personally think he's on a hiding to nothing.

I think it's a great move for LFC. it's a high pressure role, if he makes it he's a serious contender to replace Klopp when he eventually leaves.

There isn't a career path from the under 18's to the first team managers job, it's not like spain where reserve teams can play in the lower leagues.

The last Liverpool legend who left Rangers to manage us didn't fair too well.

I'd be reluctant to appoint Stevie G directly from Rangers as quite frankly the standard of football up here is ****e.

Souness was a bad as Hodgson if not worse. He was the first manager I wanted to see the back of. Couldn't stand him by the end, ruined us.

Good luck to him. Hope he wins everything. Presumably he stole Rogers folder....Waterboy 2 in Scotland

I guess the worse that can happen is that they finish third...But you can see why it is attractive to him. To go from coaching our u18s to having a team playing in front of thousands, albeit at a championship-level of footy, is exciting. I expect to see Rangers linked with youngsters from LFC - so it might make them worth watching next season. But Celtic are light-years ahead so they are playing for 2nd. He's probably told them that at interview!

Really couldn't care less but hope it goes well for him - fast track.

Success at Rangers, could be a stepping stone to a premier league club in a couple of seasons? then Liverpool Job.

standard is ****e but its still a lot more high profile than MK dons or simialr linked jobs down here.
