It's all gone to **** for him at Rangers. League effectively over after last night's defeat to Kilmarnock. Natives are starting to get restless.

Reading some Rangers forums on Gerrard, and trying to see what they think the problems are.
Feels like a mixed bag. Some blaming Gerrard regarding tactics and style, while others see big improvement from the years gone by.
Definitely does feel like they're getting restless. Gerrard will probably have to focus on the Scottish Cup to try and bag a trophy, because it seems that's something that could placate things.

I don't think this is fair.
Listening to his podcast with carragher was very interesting. He regrets playing so.many positions when he was younger but obviaouky did so to get more games and he had the skills to play well enough almost anywhere.
He says he would have been a better player if he had focused on one position like 99% of players do.
There is a healthy dose of self awareness there and an explanation why he may have been lacking tacticallyx in certain positions. Not necessarily because of an inate tactical illitravy that might hold him back as a manager.Last edited by BG1973; 14-02-20, 07:44 AM.

They were done over something rotten by the ref v Kilmarnock. Kilmarnock's goal was a blatant handball and Morelos had a perfectly decent goal disallowed at 1-1 with a few mins left. Interestingly it was the same referee that apologised to Gerrard after screwing them over v Aberdeen in December.
Gerrard "tactically illiterate as a player" is ****ing hilarious by the way. Christ.Last edited by Chris; 14-02-20, 09:19 AM.

I’m not sure the ‘Rangers are getting done over by the refs’ angle will have much mileage up hereOriginally posted by Chris View PostThey were done over something rotten by the ref v Kilmarnock. The standard of officiating up here is historically dire, but the OF are definitely the beneficiaries of many, many favourable decisions.
Gerrard is getting (and deserves) praise for how he is handling this mini crisis. It would have been some achievement to have taken the title, I’m sure they will regroup. They were very unlucky not to win the League Cup - I’m sure they will focus on the Scottish Cup.Modifying post.

Celtic have already won 9 in a row in the 60/70sOriginally posted by Big-Red-Ed View PostHe is under enormous pressure to stop Celtic from winning 10 in a row. Rangers won 9 and this year Celtic will equal that

You're correct though. There is enormous pressure on Gerrard and Rangers to stop Celtic achieving 10.

Why is it? He was a force of nature, but he was not disciplined tactically. Benitez in effect said that a number of times. He needed to be given a free role because he could not consistently do what was expected in a disciplined role. That doesn't make him a bad player or anything, but I thought it was something that was widely acknowledged. (I certainly wasn't trying to be controversial.)Originally posted by Chris View PostGerrard "tactically illiterate as a player" is ****ing hilarious by the way. Christ.
