    Rodgers:

"But there's no doubt Steven has been outstanding for me since I've come in. I've asked him to play in a couple of roles. It's really [about] getting him into a position where he's on the ball as often as possible because with his qualities and his big talent, he can really hurt opponents.
He really hasn't, Brendan. I can only assume BR is either paying lip service, or is referring to SG in training, his attitude around the place etc.

His performances have been piss poor.

Can you imagine how Rodgers might describe Gerrard's contribution had he been playing like he did under Rafa?

He's not going to alienate Gerrard, nor Carragher, Reina, Suarez, Johnson, Lucas, Agger, Skrtel. Piss performances or not. If he does, it'll be him slamming the whole team.

Downing, Cole, Enrique on the other hand...

I look at some players who get interest from clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona and they cause absolute wars to get out and get there.
A little dig at Owen & Mascherano?

              No, that was Joe Cole.

He's lost a yard of pace and I don't think we'll ever see him playing further forward now.

Has anyone else noticed how Stevie's become more of a vocal captain this year? I like the way when one of his teamates is potentially in trouble with the ref, he comes over to try and diffuse the situation? We've seen this in particular with with Sterling in the derby.

Generally he's talking to the refs and players a lot more, which is part of the captains job role. He was also pretty vocal in interviews about some of the shocking decisions and of the abilities of Suarez. Long may it continue. Iv got a feeling all this has been prompted by Rogers.

Yeah his role has changed and he's adapting well imo. Some of the criticisms I've read of him are harsh. His game has changed.

It's an odd situation. He's obviously been adapting and doing okay but a midfield of him and Allen is pretty useless in terms of acting as a consistent shield in front of the back four.

I think Shaggy is harsh on Gerrard. I don't think that he's been much worse than Allen (different balance of positives and negatives). He's clearly not been the player he was a few years ago but a) he was often worse in CM then and b) he is now just older and slower.
