A bit corny I know, but we had real men then. Now we do lack the physical presence around the pitch IMO and maybe get bullied more.Originally posted by Pablo1981 View PostMe too Tee, me too
On a side point, looking at that reminded me we had some great characters back then. I'm not sure we do these days.

Yeah agree, we're lacking leaders now in the team. Around that time we had virtually an entire team of natural leaders:
Reina, Carragher, Hyypia, Alonso, Mascherano, Gerrard, Kuyt.
All of those guys stood up to be counted and had tons of experience. We're very short in that regard these days.

I can't see BR dropping him, I really can't. I mean how many managers in football would have the balls to drop him ? Ferguson, Mourinho and possibly Wenger.Originally posted by BigChief View PostPersonally, I think he's holding back the evolution of our style. Like Carragher he needs to be our inspiration from the bench/training. This is just my opinion and he could (I hope) prove me totally wrong.

I think he can play a bigger part than Carragher does, but 90 minutes twice a week is too much for him now.
I think it's a bit of both mate. We can't and shouldn't rely on him anymore and BR is asking him to adapt his game.Originally posted by Tee View PostSteven Gerrard is not the problem, it is the ****e around him. Put better players around him and Luis, and we will get better performances and results. It really is that simple.
Hate to say it but he's been really, really poor this season. Is it age? Injuries caught up with him? Not sure but I don't think you can blame they players around him for his form.
