there seems little doubt that gerrard isnt the powerhouse he once was. we all see it, but im a little unsure if stevie has realised.
he needs to finally become more controlled in his play and once he realises his limitations he might become the pass master and adapt his style to the alonso role, marshalling the midfield from the centre, but not trying the storming runs that look amazing when they work [1 in 20?] but often would leave us overexposed elsewhere on the pitch.

if we can get stevie to adapt his play we can get a couple more years out of him and he can still be an asset to the team, rather than a player we are reluctant to drop but we have not position for him.

Not only have his physical attributes faded, he *seems* to give the ball away even more regularly than before. Not sure if the stats bear that out but his performances have been poor on the whole IMO.

I think Shaggy is harsh on Gerrard. I don't think that he's been much worse than Allen (different balance of positives and negatives). He's clearly not been the player he was a few years ago but a) he was often worse in CM then and b) he is now just older and slower.
        I agree.

In his current role as CM he is not effective enough (I think I read somewhere he had more misplaced passes in the opponent half than any midfield player in PL this year) and he is not a goal threat any more as he doesn't have pace to go forward and that was what made him world class.

He may have few years left but we have to start looking for his long term replacement as soon as possible.

What would people think of using Gerrard as a impact sub ? I think he could be very affective and get us a goal when needed.

He should be play as striker with Suarez and Sterling behind him coming in from both sides. He's the only one who seems to have the ability to score when he has a chance inside the box. Lucas, Allen and Shelvey can handle the midfield with Sahin and Henderson as subs.

Oh, I forgot, there is also this Suso...

'Steven Gerrard is respected throughout Europe and is always the player the coach says to be careful with because he is the one that makes the difference.

'But, although of course Liverpool is a big club, I would like to see Steven at a big international club.

'I would like to see that also for England because it is very exciting when someone goes abroad and shows who he is in another competition.

'For me, a fantastic player can make the difference in every country wherever he plays. I'm pretty sure Steven would do that also.'

Are people taking into account that this is about the 5th rebuilding job done on the team since he started playing. It must cross his mind that the end will never come in his playing career so it is understandable that he has periods where he can't always be the human dynamo flying around the pitch putting out fires and trying to cover the weaknesses. He is the club Captain and he is/was a brilliant player but he is also human.

The team now plays differently from previous teams, it is BR's job to get the best out of Steve using the skills Steve has today and not expect the same as his capabilities of 10 years ago.

The one truly world class player we have had since Rush/Kenny era.

Had a bit of a panic attack this morning when I though about Liverpool FC without Stevie G. What are we going to do? He is a point of reference for this club, and I cannot see any other player who will take that mantle when he goes. Almost like losing the very heart and soul of our team. It is going to be a very different club when he leaves and I am not so sure it will be for the better.

Tbh, the club needs to do something sharpish, listening to people talk about this club of late, tells me just how low down the pecking order we are just now.

It's wrong, because lots of clubs have jumped ahead by way of welathy owners, but ahead they are, and there they will stay untill we do something very special, or something very special happens to this club.

All still possible, but not really probable, but we all live in hope.

                              I must admit I'm not feeling this 100 cap love-in. I'm afraid I couldn't give a ****.

It's nice for Stevie no doubt, but my concerns are more for LFC's future.
