The only problem I had is that he bottled at least 2 fifty/fifty's & that is VERY unlike Gerrard unless his injury is not 100% over...

I'd cut Stevie some slack. He's pretty much played **** all football since March. He came back after an OP, played a couple of games and was back out injured. I bet that proper ****ed him up mentally and he just wants to ease himself back in, now he's 'fully' back (which he must've thought last time!). Just good to have him back, I'll be happy if he takes his time with marauding lunges and Chuck Norris tackles. Better on the pitch than not eh!

He's been out for a year, it's natural that he's being a little cautious when he first comes back, rather than crashing into the tackles and risking damaging himself when he's not match fit.Originally posted by Nick77 View PostThe only problem I had is that he bottled at least 2 fifty/fifty's & that is VERY unlike Gerrard unless his injury is not 100% over...The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I was so pleased to see Stevie back - we look a different team with him in there, even if we didn't manage to win.
Where's the best position to get him 'improving' our attacking edge though? With Lucas out I'd be tempted to put him in there directing things in the centre alongside Adam but we could be left a bit open in front of the defence in the 'big' games with those two there. But I'd also like to see him out wide right as we really do lack the creativity down that left flank, but is his injury cleared up and will he be able to do that 'energetic' job down the flank there right away? The other position would be behind a striker where he played brilliantly behind Torres a season or two ago - as has already been said though we lack that Alonso in midfield to thread those passes through to him and the striker to get the most out of that position, but I'd like to see us give him a go there again as we really need a clinical attacker to finish off chances don't we, and I feel Gerrard is that man, unless we sign someone next month.
So many questions but all I know is that it's great to see him back - if he can stay fit from now on in then I'm sure he'll shoot us back up the table soon. I have that much faith in a fit Steven Gerrard.

...sticking two fingers up at Milner, and then the pitchside mic (placed directly in front of me) picked me up clearly shouting "you ****ing dirty *******!" at him
