Crikey - that doesn't sound like Stevie at all. Not giving his all and unable to tackle!?

He's been finished for a few years, his legs have gone but to make matters worse he's bulked up his muscle mass and its slowed him down further.

Gerrard ran himself into the ground for us, we could never manage him properly because he was our everything. Best attacking player, best defensive player and we constantly relied on him when things got tough.

He's never been tactically great though, Rafa tamed him and we saw a better player for it but he never thanked him for it. In fact he always thought he was out of position even when partnered with Torres for example.

Now we have an 'impact' player that can't make an impact because he lacks the pace to drive a team forward. His short passing isn't very controlled and he looks very heavy and slightly clumsy at times, dictating games was never his best attribute. England suffered for not having Scholes in that role and Liverpool addressed it by freeing him up and getting Alonso in to run games.

This is a big reason behind why I'm opposed to him coaching/managing the club, his knowledge of his own game seemed off. He was a fantastic player but he played with his heart rather than with his head and as a coach that's not really what you need.

Added to that his opinion on Hodgson and earlier Curbishley.

To be fair his last few years with us, last year especially players ran (walked) off him with ease and he really looked him his was stuck in the mud/running up hill when getting back. Again even his tackles where based upon speed, determination and momentum, not positioning. Physically he's not capable no more and its hard to watch.

I wanted him to leave not because I grew to hate the fella but because of how hard it was to watch someone you've adored struggle desperately.

Maybe. But there have been several articles in the last few months stating how Gerrard has unbalanced the Galaxy midfield.

"But the Galaxy have lacked balance between attack and defense since the duo's arrival. Once opponents detected that Gerrard often left Juninho to fend for himself defensively in the center of midfield, they started attacking the soft middle, forcing Gonzalez and Leonardo to step further up field and thus create even more space for teams to exploit."

Had a feeling Gerrard would struggle in the MLS. It's not the greatest of leagues, nor is it the most technical but it's quick and physically demanding. Lousy to read though.

Galaxy were knocked out of the playoffs last night in Seattle, actually. Hugely disappointing given the amount of money they spent on Gerrard and Dos Santos, not to mention that they have the deepest squad in the league by far. The article's right - they didn't bench him, but they should've. Stevie hasn't been very good since he joined, and he doesn't seem like he's enjoying it at all. And dan's right, the pace of the game is a serious problem for him. It's a **** league, but it's a fast one. Old midfielders without legs (Stevie, Pirlo, Lampard) always look average in it. Italy would've been perfect for him, at least on the field.

Krisztian Nemeth (who's done well) plays tonight, by the way.

Nothing in that report that I didn't see in him for us all last season. He was well off the pace, players waltzed passed him with ease and the MLS lads seem to be able to do it too. He needs to pack it in or head to a league that's much slower.

Such a shame to read about his decline, but there were posters across the web who warned this could happen.

He should learn about fitness over there if he harbours ambitions of coaching or managing.

Sounds like some kind of wanking issue?

I worry whenever someone suggests Gerrard is a future manager. How likely is it that a tactically illiterate but big hearted player will be a good EPL manager?

I'd like Liverpool to get Xabi back as a coach.

Carra looks more likely than Stevie to be a manager. He comes across as more studied and intelligent.

I'm not saying Stevie is stupid but he doesn't seem to have a managerial aura about him.

I don't think either of them appear managerial at the moment. You never know, a few coaching experiences may open their eyes and sharpen their skills in that regard.

A few things to consider though, for LA he's still a big draw, I live out here and especially the latinos they all love him. His family I believe are back in the UK, its just him and his bessie and by all accounts they /him are struggling to fit in considering he's living a few miles away from everyone else. Also, its a bloody different way of live out here, its taken me two years just too understand the differences so he need a bit of a break. that said, he doesn't help himself with the BT work (its been commented on). Next season he'll fire, he's too much quality not to...
I make no apologies, this is me
