Clearly he did, but that's the mystery for me - i never saw what he did so wrong to them, that's anywhere near in proportion with how they have been towards him.

Apparently (think I read it on here actually), during commentary last night, Lawro said something like - "I haven't heard from Rafa in a while..... thank goodness" *chuckle chuckle guffaw guffaw*.

It's pricks like that, that I hope Rafa calls out on this site of his. I suspect he won't though

Granted, he wasnt one to give a journo a soundbite, or tell them anything they wanted, but his style of dealing with the media is wildly disproportionate to the sheer cuntery they've given back to him.

It's a big like someone coming upto you in the street and calling you a dick - and then, you go and firebomb their house or something.

And worst of all, when you see the utter buffoonery that passes for punditry these days, you see just how valuable Rafa could be to any sports broadcaster. Yet, the dickheads dont see what's right in front of them.
He isn't English and he attacked Fergie. If you attack Fergie then you will be attacked big time by the media.

He dismantled/rattled the little cuntery clique that existed between some journos and the likes of Hodgson, Ferguson, Allardyce and co. He took the piss out of them at times and they didn't like it.

He dared to challenge the old boys management club who as we know have their friends in the media. He disrespected Allardyce and Ferguson. He went beyond the pale Craig, beyond the pale!

Apparently the main commentator is the one who said "We havent heard from Rafa in a while", to which the buffonery riddled **** Lawrenson replied "Thank goodness" in that droll, unfunny (but intended to be hilarious) sarcastic style.

No idea why Lawro behaves like such a dick, but it's pretty much his on-screen (or on-microphone) persona now. So i hope he's happy with it

Ah okay, my mistake. My point still stands though.

Definitely see something in that, but surely there has to be more to it - for a start, ferguson treats most journos like something that fell out of a dog's arse, so why the media would be so protective of the old cunt, to the point of slaughtering Rafa like they did, is beyond me.

                  Aye, absolutely it stands.

The thing with it, is that i very much doubt the main commentator said it to 'feed' Lawro the line, i imagine it was initially said as a genuine comment - Lawrensen simply had to latch onto it though. As an ex-Red, he should embrace the success Rafa brought to us as much as any fan, but the dickhead seems to have an alternative agenda.

They were never accustomed to someone challenging them like this. Mourihno was another one who took the piss out of them but he had the comfort zone of winning things, so they had to give him some credit.

I ****ing hate that Lawrenson cunt. It's a shame it can end this way with great ex players who served us so well, like that other cunt Whelan, but still.

He also more or less called The FA being corrupt in his famous fact PC.

The FA had to protect themselves and they have a lot of friends in the media.

We all know that the FA is most probably corrupt but they can't admit that can they so instead they attacked Rafa using the media.

I cant imagine Wenger goes in for all that 'old boys club' LMA **** either, and he's had his fueds with Ferguson over the years (albeit not recently) - but the media never went for him in anywhere near the same manner (or any manner really), as they did with Rafa.

Perhaps i'm searching for something which isnt there, and their 'reasons' for hating Rafa simply ARE as straightforward as has been suggested - but i dunno, it just sounds too simple. Surely there HAS to be something more to it

Had a debate with a Manc on Twitter this morning who said Rafa "bottled it at the end" in 2009.

                              Our record after the 'rant' was P18, W12, D5, L1, F42 A12.

                              "Bottled it"

There's so much received wisdom bull**** about Rafa that is readilly accepted as fact, it really does my head in. I was told today that I can't disassociate from my emotions when it comes to Rafa. Get to ****. I and others just see so much misinformation about him, so many lies and distortion of facts, that I feel I must correct them. But as soon as you do, you're labelled obsessed or whatever.

perhaps it's because wenger won the league without losing, and has never been able to win in europe? doing it the right way round in the eyes of some? plus the whole invincibles thing. a bit hard to argue with, while the best rafa ever did domestically was finish 2nd in a season where draws cost us for not being aggressive enough to turn them into wins.

                                but i digress. he's quite a guy.
