I wonder why he is so sure that he will be our manager again. It is a very strange statement.

He said before that he want to be our manager again but now he is sure that he will be it.

****ing hell based on what? A Swedish hunch? In 3 or 4 years his stock will have fallen so much he'd struggle to make branch manager at my local IKEA.

Mainly as i dont trust the story, it sounds like words were cut and assumptions thrown in, reading it sounds like he was asked about living in Liverpool and the answer fits that with his kids etc..... I'd be interested to see the original transcript or a video of said interview.

Oh and it's Marca that bastion of truth in the media world

Could of course be the truth.

The only way he could be sure that he will be our manager again would be if he either have a DeLorian back to the future version or FSG asked him to take over in the summer.

Before anyone say that I want Rodgers sacked and Rafa replacing him. No, I don't want that.

I want Rodgers to get a fair chance. If FSG sack Rodgers after this season then I would never again trust them to make the right decision.

He'll be back as Chelsea manager in less than a fortnight.

And I agree with Neil Young about Rafa being asked regarding his living arrangements. That's what I thought as soon as I read the quotes.

He knows the Real Madrid job is going to available and the best opportunity he has of getting it is ending the season well with Chelsea and entering the mind of Florentino Perez.

Brendan Rodgers insists he is not worried by claims from Rafa Benitez that he will return to Liverpool one day.

Benitez is currently at Chelsea but will leave in the summer and he said he would like to continue coaching in England.

As Liverpool boss he won the Champions League in 2005 and he told Spanish newspaper Marca: "My idea is to keep coaching a competitive team. Why not in England?

"I will return to Liverpool one day almost certainly, I just don't know when. My daughters and wife are still living there."

Rodgers however points out that Liverpool's American owners could have brought Benitez back to Anfield in the summer when the Spaniard was out of work, but instead chose to recruit him from Swansea.

"I haven't seen the statements but I've heard plenty of people talk about it," Rodgers said.

"Rafa had a successful time here in the period he was here and I think he will join a list of probably many managers throughout the world who would love to manage a great club - especially having been here before.

"Obviously that opportunity was there in the summer if the owners wanted to go down that route as Rafa was unemployed and not working.

"But they felt it best to go in a different direction and develop the club in a different way.

"And from that the board, players, myself and the club have all become one in looking to move forward and build success for the future.

"It is understandable any manager wanting to manage the club because it is truly a world-class football club.

"It is not a hindrance to me. Before I came here I had seen comments about Rafa wanting to be manager and I've seen comments while I've been here.

"But it doesn't affect me in my work or my job. My relationship is very strong with the players, we work very closely together on improving our football.

"We are very stable in terms of our board and the manager connection and we have some of the best fans in the world.

"It is a pleasure for me to be here at a truly remarkable club that many managers would want to manage, not just Rafael Benitez."

Oh, hang on: "I am talking about my home, my family. I am the Chelsea manager. I will go back this week, but because we play Liverpool."
                          Thats that sorted then
