didn't think he played *that* differently today to how he did last week

i still think he can be a fine player for us, but he has a ways to go.

I thought he offered more last week to be honest, still very early days for him though and I am sure he'll be a good player for us.

I'd play him 90mins midweek against Notts County and have him sit the Man Utd game out. Hopefully he could get a bit more involved get his first goal and help him settle a little better.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Thought he was very good in the first half. Second half we seemed to lose our way and he struggled like so many others, but certainly nothing to be concerned about with Sturridge on fire. Would definitely start him against the Mancs.

I don't think he played particularly badly today, I just don't think this type of match suits his skillset. He's a good player but needs us to be on the front foot to really shine - he was quiet in the first half but not bad, and had a free run at goal on the missed offside call, but once Villa started controlling possession he didn't have much to offer.

That's not a bad thing, either, he'll have plenty of opportunities to make a mark and having options is a good thing. But today did show that, even when Suarez comes back (presumably in Henderson's place) we're probably still an attacker short. Nothing we didn't already know.

I'd start him against Man Utd.

His energy and enthusiasm on the ball will be needed. It's also a home game in what will probably be a fantastic atmosphere, which he should thrive on. There's no doubt that Olympiacos and Stoke were games which he did really well in. He was at home, supported and felt comfortable.

Then I'd bring Sterling on for the last 20 minutes or so, depending on how he's doing.

I'd play him against Notts Co. in the hope he gets a goal and kicks on from there. If so, I'd definitely keep him in the starting line up for United.

That's the one big call for me, between him and Borini. In the Notts Co thread I picked Borini but giving Aspas a run out for reasons you outlined would be very tempting.

Aspas struggled yesterday and I'm not sure he's a 2nd striker, though of course it's still very early. I reckon he'd be more effective coming from the right. Good to have these options though.

Yeah I was noticing that yesterday, he was looking around quite a lot checking where he was, I know the game was bypassing him a lot, but you get the feeling he wants to be closer to the center backs.

I think all of the front four are having to adapt to the fluid way they are asked to play at the minute. With Sturridge dropping deep a fair amount I think the other players lack a reference and have to think more than they are used to about where they should be. In the first half I think it worked really well at times. I expect that the understanding will improve as we play more games.

I don't like Borini out wide at all, so I'd play him centrally, with Aspas and Ibe on the wings.

Would only pick Ibe over Sterling because I think Sterling will be enough first teams mins elsewhere.
