It only gives you some leeway if things go well for him.

all i said is that he hasn't been any good thus far. tomorrow is another day but he'll have a to show an awful lot more if he's going to be a success.

Sterling in his position every time for me. Luckily, Suarez is back soon enough so Aspas can go back to the bench.

I hope it gets better for him, but he looks like a pretty bad investment just now.
        very true.

The first ½ year Agger were in Liverpool, he did spend more time in the gym, than at the training ground. I think Aspas and Alberto need to do so too. Then they need to play a LOT with the ressies - again and again - as they need to adapt to the temperature, the language, the physicality, the higher studs, the faster play, the lassier referees than in La Liga.
I am sure, they both will come good - especially Alberto has something magic about his touch (a little similar to Coutinho, Suso), but it is too early for him to step up already.
Shame Teixeira went out on loan - and Suso - as they should have been allowed a role. But as the state is now - then we need to dream for Suarez to stay for very loooonnng...!

Alberto is 20 though. With Aspas being 26, I think its fair to expect a level of performance as well as a player who has reached physical maturity

Yeah, I think Alberto may well get to good level, not going to be too down on such a young player playing out of position. Aspas is just wank.

agger still spends half the time in the gym.

Aspas hasn't looked great so far, he's very slight needs to build his strength up and add a bit more muscle.

Perhaps if he played a simple ball instead of trying to do fancy flicks and backheels everytime then he might be more productive, always feels the needs to go for some fancy each time.

Willing to give him more time but can't see him cutting it here really.

One of the strangest signings in years. The fact as mentioned he doesn't even look like a footballer, his one season of top flight football, his card waving, his ability to do nothing, it doesn't look good. I hope he proves everyone wrong.

Big time. I doubt he'll be given the time though.

I doubt that he will prove most of us wrong and the reason is that he don't work his socks off.

It also looks like he is yet another player that now when he got his big move stopped trying to improve and get better.

So far his attitude stinks big time.

Really not convinced by him tbh, nowhere near the same potential as Alberto who we really do need to show patience with.

I just hoped Aspas would go through a small purple patch, but maybe that will still happen.

He has had a great chance to stake his claim in the first team with Luis' absence, but IMO he has not shown the appetite for it. A decent player with some nice flicks and turns but just does not seem to be to our standard.

I feel as though some of his game is very similar to Suarez in that is very high risk. He tries low percentage plays such as flick-ons and very difficult balls in behind. Unfortunately he simply isn't AS good as Suarez which means that his success rate is even lower, meaning he turns the ball over very often.

Having said that, he has had so many nearly excellent moments in attack in regards to some of these plays. As we showed patience with Luis the season before last (Dalglish year) when he was trying ridiculous shots and trying to dribble past entire teams, I think Aspas needs the same chance to immerse himself into the team and take the low % option at the right times and keep the ball at the right times.

As a few people have said he is obviously trying very hard and probably trying to influence the game too much, instead of being one of the players. On the positive side, I would much rather see him take the onus upon himself and try things rather than play like Downing who was so scared to make a mistake that he would never take the risk of taking someone on or playing difficult balls in behind.

Liverpool striker Iago Aspas has hinted he could quit the club in January after becoming frustrated with his lack of playing time.

Aspas, who moved to Anfield over the summer in a £7.7million deal, has found himself fall down the pecking order after failing to score in his first six games for the Reds.

And after saying he was finding life tough with Liverpool last month, Aspas suggests he may have to leave to get regular playing time.

‘I’m finding it hard to be a sub at Liverpool having started games in the past few years,’ he said....
