Of course, I'd love him to develop into 20 goal a season striker, but I haven't seen enough evidence for that. A bit like the other two I mention, his biggest problem so far appears to be getting into goal scoring positions. And if you're not doing that, you're not gona score many goals.
see ngog is one i used to defend

i felt he was put into an impossible position - playing the loan striker role for a long period when torres was out injured and we had no other strikers...

ngog also cost pennies and was a young lad!

i don't think i did - pretty sure i was concerned in a few of those pre-season games with some of the clear cut chances he missed and also think i said, at best i'd pleased if is about as good as baros

I was pretty much the same.

          I wasn't. I'd never heard of him.
          Oh I don't know.

Well, i posted this when we bought him, that a Spanish journo had said we'd come to the clubs rescue by paying so much for him, because had he been bought by another Spanish club he'd have cost around 2/3mill.

Now that doesn't mean he wont/can't be a success here, but it does bring a bit of perspective, assuming this Spaniad was correct.

My biggest issue with Ngog was that he never got himself into enough goalscoring positions. I recall his goals to chances ratio being pretty good for a back up striker.

He had plenty of chances to play though and has since carried on in a similar vein at a lower level.

You were putting him in your fancy dan formation posts as our No.9.

Haha, hope not. I did say he was a million miles away from being a new Craig Bellamy though. And I was right.

                    Internet point scoring FTW!

ah - but that was before i'd seen him kick a ball, so i'd assumed as we' have paid for him and everyone else seemed excited, and suarez was suspended, that he'd defo start till suarez got back

                        I'm only pissing about anyway.

Personally think the signings of Alberto and Aspas were a bit of a waste in all honesty. That money could have been saved and gone on someone to immediately improve the first team of real quality. A signing to have been done really early in the window

aye - i just felt everything was wrong for him - he clearly wasn't a 'lone striker', he was a nothing player we'd picked up cheap as a bit of gamble addition, there was no real hype at all in the signing - and he was thrown right in at the deep end. And he did ok at times.

I always said at the time it was unfair...

                          there should have been

                          Torres
                          An Other
                          Ngog

as the options with the other being better than ngog but not as good as torres was.

however like you've pointed, i am surprised that since dropping down a level he's just gone nowhere/done nothing - i thought he'd a least look decent at Bolton was it he went to?

                            Usual story.

                            (not me BTW )

agree - can't see the reason we signed Alberto, however at least he has time on his side...

but when we already had shelvey/suso in the squad who could/would be our young 'squaddie' attacking mid it didn't make that much sense.

I do retain far greater hope for Alberto though. He has the potential still IMO.
