I think they didn't really rate him.

What is also strange, is that we seemed to have a clear run at Sakho. If he was that good - the next Desailly - then surely the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City would have been all over him. Surely.

I think he is a good enough player - he has the attributes to be a top player if he has the application to go and be the best he can be. If we were to sell him, then we would porbably take a massive hit on the transfer fee and also we would need to spend to replace him - especially when you consider that Kolo will also be focking off next summer. Are we going to buy 2 new centre backs next year - or will Ilori, Wisdom or (unlikely) Coates be able to come back and be part of the group??

So it would be good if we could integrate him into the squad, give him some game time, and make sure he is ready if called upon in the event of injury or suspensions.

I thought he was reasonably good for france as well in the world cup. I must say though, not sure i would have had him in front of Koscielny in the pecking order.

In reality if he can't force his way back into our first team then he will want to go next summer to a place where he will play every week - especially with France Euro 2016 in mind.
Seeing as PSG have spent silly money to sign David Luiz, I'm not sure we should be using their opinion of defenders as a guide.

As Shaggy has mentioned, I can see him going elsewhere and being fantastic.

I don't want us to sell him, but it's not looking good is it?

I still maintain that if he was given a consistent run in defence for the season he would be our best defender. The guy has all the attributes needed to be a top CB.

He's great and I find it ridiculous he's never got a chance to establish a pairing with someone. As the rumour goes Brendan wanted Williams, he got Sakho and hasn't given him a fair crack since imo.

Won't be good for his value if he's sat in the stand until he's sold.

Rodgers says Sakho has apologised for storming out of Anfield on Sat and 'we move on'. Thigh injury will keep him out for 2 to 3 weeks.

Probably about the height that Brendan could have punched Sakho.

More transfer committee conspiracy nonsense. No players are signed without the agreement of the Manager.

This season yes. That was part of his new deal. That wasn't the case last season when Sakho signed. He had a say obviously but not a veto.

I don't believe that. He's the manager. He picks the team

If he doesn't want a player, then they don't get signed. Because if he doesn't want them then he doesn't play them and the price paid for them might just as well have been spent on cola cubes
I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet

It was mentioned in the media numerous times before he got his new deal that he didn't have the final say, it was him, Ayre and Fallows. It was mentioned in the summer that he now had final say. We've seen it with Assaidi and possibly Sahin, never got the chance to play where he should have. We see it with Sakho now, he doesn't play unless we have no choice. You might say its because he doesn't deserve to play but I've seen the likes of Tony Barrett say the boss doesn't rate him so I tend to believe that. If he didn't rate him then he certainly didn't agree to buy him.

Where did you get this nonsense from?

Here is a post I submitted in the Brendan Rogers thread in MAY 2013 - read it slowly and check the the whole article that's linked. And again note the date.

That rumour is such a load of ****. Every single player we sign who doesn't immediately nail down a first team place, "committee signing, Rodgers didn't want him" whispers start. Do people really have such a low opinion of our manager's integrity and desire to win they think he'd bomb out a player from the start just because he didn't get his own way with signing someone else? How counter-productive to his own success would that be? Maybe, just maybe, instead of a petty agenda, he and the rest of the coaching staff see a lack of application or development in training and are picking the best side they think they have to win games, which just doesn't happen to include Sakho?

I think its really insulting actually to buy into that crap, not to mention going completely against the evidence of various players like Skrtel and Henderson who played their way back into the manager's plans purely on merit.
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
