That's the minimum suspension for offence of this type.
        Also says:

He (Kolo) admitted the violation, and was given a six-month suspension by an independent FA panel, who took into consideration mitigating factors behind the use of the tablets. Had they not, Toure could have faced a two-year ban.

Here's what QC Christopher Quinlan, who headed the panel, said at the time: "The criterion in assessing any reduction in what would otherwise be the minimum penalty of two years' suspension is the player's degree of fault. The player accepted he was at fault and with that concession we agree.

"He was at fault in the limited and perfunctory efforts he made in relation to the water tablets; the checks he made in relation to those tablets were inadequate and fell some way below what it would be reasonable to expect of a professional footballer in these circumstances.”
        * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Whilst that could happen I suppose, it's really in place in an attempt to exclude more likely problems such as in lab contamination or technical errors with the testing process.

Gutting news. I can't see any ray of hope either. He'll probably miss the rest of the season at the very least.

Origi, Can and now Sakho out - Villareal must be pissing themselves.

The club have said they won't be picking him while its ongoing. It won't be sorted by Thursday. He's not banned, but he's not playing either.

Obviously a ban of more than say 6 months would end his Liverpool career. No way will they wait for his return.

Probably right but most are looking at today's line up,and like I say I don't think he was ever playing personally.

Possibly in theory but not in practice:

Not a single one of the cases listed as examples received 2 years on more, and only 1 received 1 year or more.

Just got in and seen this and the result FFS. I can't believe that players take supplements that haveen't been given to them by the club.

Another of our best players that will be out for at least the rest of the season.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
