Love him, never understood why he was not played much for the first half of the season. I'd like to think there was a proper reason. But was very happy we got him at the start of the season. Him and Coutinho will be our best players for a long time to come, along with Henderson. A solid midfield between the three of them. When Can is being used there that is.Comment

The 6 weeks sure. But for majority of the first half of the season? Most likely not trusting a younger player. But when your first team players are being useless and this player does vrey good the couple times he goes out, he should of stuck with him. Sometimes players can learn more by not playing. By watching the pace of the game at close quarters, maybe he was able to understand what is required better. He's a young lad coming into a new country. Playing him from the off whilst the team is struggling is a little unrealistic. To be honest, he's playing now and playing well, that's all we should be worried about. What went before is of little relevance. None of our new signings hit the ground running or showed any consistency early on. The ones Rodgers stuck with he was starting to get criticised for. Even Can was getting criticised and journalists (or at least one) was questioning how suited he was to the league, so a bit unfair to wait until he hits form (at the same time as some of our other new signings) and criticise Rodgers for not playing him more.Originally posted by vlahka View Post

I don't agree, none of our new signings really got a chance until late november/early december, and that was only when Johnson/Allen/Lovren got injured.Originally posted by RedReet View Post

Perhaps not playing them frequently, letting them settle and find their feet, their place in the team ethic, is why we are reasping the rewards now with both Markovic and Can. They've been eased in gently and not thrown in at the deep end, which can only be beneficial in the long run.
