If there's any criticism knocking about it should be aimed at Brendan for playing him there. Same with Markovic at wing back. Neither of these kids (both 20) can be criticised in my view. Neither are defenders and both have big futures IMO.

I think Can & Markovic have looked very good in the unorthodox roles. Better than where they were being played earlier in the season in fact. Obviously, it helps now that they've had time to adjust.

It seemed like very bizarre moves at the time, but I think the unusual positioning of the two has worked out. Since that initial shock it's since come out that Can has played CB before anyway, whilst Lazar has been known to be one who is diligent in working back. I think it shows that Rodgers hasn't lost the plot just yet as was suggested at the time.

I thought it was common knowledge when we signed Can that he has played centre back? Anyway I agree.

He had also played at CB as well as in both full back slots for Leverkusen. Think he had as many games in one of the backline slots for Leverkusen as he has playing in the centre.

The British media seem to struggle to get things right about players who have played in England their whole careers, so would not be relying on them for info on players from abroad.

Must say he was very good against sunderland! Even though they were terrible.

Still think he is a bit clumsy looking and turns like 10 ton truck with the hand brake on. Needs to lean up and work on his mobility a bit, but has a lot of excellent qualities to his game.

That's crazy. He's extremely quick for his size and has lovely control of the ball, so never noticed any issues turning.
