    1. Lallana at Southampton
    2. Lallana at Liverpool

Two very different players. At Southampton he pressed high and continually did so. He had a. Great understanding with many of the players and he didn't hold on to the ball too long. He was in the PFA team of the year and deservedly so.

At Liverpool he still showed that willingness to press when the team were asked to do so, I remember him charging a keeper down and the ball going in off him as the keeper tried to clear it. However, for me he's never looked like he knows what's going on around him at LFC.

I agree when people have said he slows down the play, but I don't think it's something intentional that he wants to do. Let's see how he plays under Klopp. I've a feeling that as time progresses the improved structure will mean he knows what's going on around him.
    Forwards.......

Again, not sure that holds. When Pochettino was at Southampton, another manager who likes to press high and press often, Lallana was found wanting with his fitness levels. He was regularly subbed off around the 60 mark due to fatigue, and that was 2.5 years ago. He's a bench player at best for Liverpool.

im not 100% sure about this but from what I can remember for southampton he regularly ran 9-10k per game but within 70 mins not 90. Thats why he was probably subbed so early because of the amount of running he was doing within such a short time.

someone somewhere will have the stats on his running at saints.

It's as much about sprinting/running more that longer term fatigue. Also the concentration on the movement rather than what to do on arrival. Thinking differently reduces you ability to do what comes naturally IMO.

I was talking more about his performances than his amount of time on the pitch. You should probably remember also that he started every single game for Southampton and was never rested. Others in that team were rotated as the season went on.

In honesty, I don't care if he's only good for 70 or even 60 minutes. If he performs to a high level for an hour and gets subbed every game that's fine by me.

Lallana's a hard worker, tactically smart, and technically good. There will be a role for him.

Worth pointing out about his time at Southampton: he got subbed a lot because he ran a lot. He ran as much as Henderson that season and was fifth in the league in distance run despite getting subbed regularly, with more sprints and a higher average speed than everyone else in the top twenty. He may not have the stamina to do it for 90 minutes, but he was giving more in 70 than anyone else in the league could.

Ok, so he runs a lot, like I said, that's the bare minimum to expect from a highly paid athlete. That doesn't hid the fact that he makes poor decisions and is a massively disappointing misallocation of transfer funds. I'd hope he does have a role for the outlay, but for me, he's being categorised with Downing, Carroll, Aquilani and Keane as hefty price for little return. He's slow, indecisive, ineffective and a bit of a passenger.

I made an attempt to find out how many times he had been subbed off during his Pochettino season, but got distracted by this Southampton thread. Interesting that two years on, with a different club, that fan opinion is pretty much the same on him! Mixed!

As there is only one other player on a par with him with regard to the bare minimum. I look forward you slating every other player in the squad bar one

I like Lallana but yeah he has been a big let down at LFC. If he is to succeed here he needs to score more goals and get more assists, that's what we bought him for.

Time will tell if it's him or BR that's at fault. I hope he kicks on from here with a new style of play suiting him better.
