As world class as he is, showed again he's just not a real big game player. Messi saved his blushes with those two late goals.
Screwed up one on ones, horrendous touches for crucial one twos with Neymar that would have led to certain goals and general cluelessness tonight. One tit for another.

Just going by the big games I've seen him in, which admittedly since he left Liverpool are only a handful. No doubting his world class status and possibly the best forward in the world (Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar I don't class as actual forwards).
But he does fail to live up to his billing on the very biggest of club stages, one of which was against Chelsea last season and one was yesterday.
As for Messi's 'releasing' this is no surprise. Its Messi ffs. I remember a glorious release off his head of all things to put Suarez in with a beaut of a chance. Suarez on the other hand could have released Neymar twice with one twos which he completely Joe Allened. One tit for another.

A Suarez performance is not all about the goals though. Against Manchester United and Arsenal, he was central to everything we did. Of the two games I'm thinking of, we scored eight goals with Suarez not scoring one of them. He punished smaller teams, but when better teams tried to mark him out of the game, he'd put in a performance that others would benefit from.
He never had much luck against Chelsea, but then they have one of the stringiest defences around. In the big games for Barcelona (so far, because there are only a handfull), he's looked great.

So he has scored in every knockout round in the CL so far, scored against Madrid for Barca, scored against every team in the league for us, scored a semi-final Derby goal for us, scored in the cup final for Ajax, scored in the Copa America final, scored in the World cup for Uruguay, but he didn’t score on one particular occasion against Chelsea and hasn’t scored half way through a tie against Bayern, so he isn’t a big game player?
Seems fair.If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Thought he did well against England in the WC, City in the last round, Utd away last season, was sensational against Arsenal at home to name a fewOriginally posted by BigChief View PostJust going by the big games I've seen him in, which admittedly since he left Liverpool are only a handful. Suárez, the big-game specialist
Although the signing of Luis Suárez was welcomed by the majority of Barcelona fans, many also threw up their hands when they found out he had cost over €81 million. However, more than six months later there is no doubt the Uruguayan was worth every penny and all the supporters are more than satisfied with his performances.
Statistically speaking, Suárez has been sensational. This is particularly the case if you take into account the rustiness he suffered initially because of his time out of action and his teething problems - no pun intended - as he adjusted to the team's style of play and established a rapport with his new teammates. In the last two months, since he bagged a brace against Manchester City on 24th February, he has averaged a goal a game.
However, Suárez is not only showing that he is a prolific striker of the highest order, but is further paying back the money invested in him by coming up with big goals against top-class opposition. After all, it is effectiveness against the elite or in crunch matches that tends to stick in fans' memories. The former Liverpool star has certainly come up trumps in this respect.
Suárez went a long way towards putting the Camp Nou faithful in his pocket when he did what is asked of all forwards who join Barça: sink Real Madrid. The Uruguayan's winner against the old enemy back on 22nd March ensured iconic status.
On top of that, the 28-year-old has sparkled in the Champions League. Having made the difference at the Etihad, last week he delivered another deadly double in an away leg, with PSG the victims this time round.
Suárez has also been decisive in La Liga. He was outstanding in the win over Atlético at the Camp Nou, a game that could yet prove pivotal in determining the fate of the title. On a similar note, his strike in this past Saturday's victory over Valencia effectively secured three points in an encounter in which Barcelona could not afford to slip up.What do you mean it could've been anyone?
