Clyne was a necessity, Milner will improve us no end, and as for Benteke and Firmino, they should improve us. I think it's very different to last seasons transfers.

Well, that's the thing, we've gone for premier league proven with Milner, cline and Benteke. Last seasons signings have a year under their belt too. My biggest relief came in January when Gerrard announced he would leave the club. Love him to bits and hope he tears it up in America, but all sorts of plans and formations were running through my head from February onwards (I knew we'd blown fourth last season so no point dwelling on last season).
As long as we got a RB we could trust (Clyne) it would mean less formation faffing around by Rodgers (no 3 at the back any more, no endless Hendo covering for Gerrard and curtailing his game, etc).
Still have a dodgy defence but like with 2 seasons ago we'll be looking forward now, not back. And if Firmino/Bentekkers start knocking in 20 more goals than last season then no reason we won't be challenging for the title if falling slightly short.One tit for another.

I will be happy if we can actually compete with the top 4, capitulation like last season is unacceptable.Those that hid Anne Frank were breaking the law.

We will God willing. Capitulation last season occurred due to mitigating circumstances, nearly all of which have been resolved (quietly I might add which is a nice change). This is the first chance we've had to speak to you since you signed Christian Benteke, what do you think he can bring to the club?

There’s a number of qualities that he has and he will only improve in his time at the club. I think first and foremost his goals, if you look at his goals record since the time that he’s been in the Premier League he's up there with Messi and Ronaldo in terms of numbers. So that was very important for us. Obviously I've heard and I've seen stuff about the style, 'he won't fit the style of how we play' - I think he'll only complement it and help us. He’s a big, firm guy but he’s got the attributes that I like in terms of pace and movement and he gets goals, he gets all types of goals. He's great in the air, strong, firm, he can hold the game up, he can play on the counter-attack, he can play whenever the team is deep because he can hold the ball up with his physical strength. As I said, he's a wonderful young boy that still is improving in his game so I don’t think there’s any doubt he'll fit our tactical idea of the game and he can be a huge player for us.

I'm really excited about the new season. I get the point about a load of new signings but not all of them will start together. The disruption shouldn't be as big as it was last season especially with so much Prem experience amongst the newbies.
