I dunno, I think Houllier was justified to have his doubts about him given the myriad clubs he went on to play for after Liverpool - he was never settled and moved around a hell of a lot.
So - yeah, he might have been right to have his doubts, but his decision to sign Diouf was probably the worst one he made as Liverpool manager.
He moved around a fair bit but his record at other PL clubs was decent. He went to Man City after his loan deal with us and scored 37 goals in 2.5 seasons, had a 1.5 years in Turkey before signing for Bolton where he got 21 PL goals in 1.5 years before moving to Chelsea where he was a bit part player for 4 years but still managed a couple of seasons good seasons 19 and 11 goals. His record wasn't spectacular but Man City and Bolton were fairly average sides at the time. I think he could have been a decet player for us, certainly better than Diouf
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

You're right of course, he remained a decent top flight striker and way better than Diouf ever could have been, but he wouldn't have stayed long if he had signed. Maybe that was what was in his mind.
Absolute cracking strike. He's going to get a load of chances for us with Phil and Bob putting them on a plate for him and with finishing like that he'll bang in an absolute ****load of goals. He was in the all the right spots yesterday but the service was poor.

It was an incredible goal albeit against **** opposition, still you have to put them away and he certainly did that!

I don't think the opposition makes a huge difference for a goal like that. He could have been closed down better but that's nitpicking. That goes in against any team in the world!

Oh yeah it was a hell of a strike don't get me wrong! Beauty it was and beautifully well struck.
Gets better the more you watch it.
