The fact Benteke didn't work either makes it look even worse but with Firmino and Ings out we were short of a better option.

Ultimately for some time now three of our weakest links have been Mignolet, Skrtel, Benteke and stuff like this is inevitable until they are usurped by genuinely superior players.

Going back to the second leg vs United on Thursday. That first half was far too open and if it wasn't for Coutinho's goal just before half time, I wouldn't have been confident starting the second half with just a slender 1-0 lead.

As much as our transition game is improving under Klopp, there are still a lot of issues, especially in our ability to control a game. If we don't blitz teams away when we are dominant and put the score beyond the opposing team, I feel that there is always a chance for the opposition to get back.

A full pre-season under Klopp should address those issues, but I'm not sure he's as pragmatic in how he set out teams. He's an emotional man, so it's normal that this transpires to the team, so control might be alien to him.
      Are we winning?

Yep, if you take away the goals we score then results dont look as good, no doubt about that!

In our last 8 games prior to this we'd won 5 and drawn 3 scoring 16 goals and conceding just 3. It doesn't really scream of a team unable to control games and keep the goals out does it ?

Benteke needed to come on. Midfield was having trouble getting the ball so we needed someone who could pass to them.

We aren't clinical enough in front of goal, today we had a couple of chances before half time to go 3 or 4 goals up, similarly against Man Utd in both legs (first leg in particular to put the game/tie beyond doubt) The second leg against Man Utd was similar to the 2nd half today from 2-0 up we concede one and then it becomes very nervy a mistake and you don't win the game, this is the situation we have found ourselves in time and again this season. Think back to the Sunderland and Norwich games for example.

Yep, if only we could just score five or six goals before conceding, i think we'd have a much better chance of coming away with a positive result.

Definitely a bit of a plop alright.

It's got to the stage with LFC that apart from maybe Coutinho, if anyone else left in the summer... I don't think i'd really care. There's just a serious lack of bollox about the team. Win games here and there but when the going gets tough and the pressure is on, the arse drops out of us and we bottle it. Wholesale changes please Mr.Klopp.
