Definitely. Klopp is clearly fed up with it all now.Originally posted by Scratch View PostBe a good way to force the issue to be resolved I guess.Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."

That might be a huge part of our risk strategy. If FIFA are going to take action against us then we'll get the lawyers kick their asses with precedence lawsuits.Originally posted by ntto View Postso what happened with his international duty while he was with Shalke?
Anyway, I'd rather get a deferred ban by which time we've bought in some good defenders (and Gomez) than have him not available now.One tit for another.

Conspiracy theory time
Fifa and UEFA are in cahoots
There was a big malarkey over sakho(Liverpool) drug issue....lfc make their drug rules look stupid and outdated and sakhos ban lifted....defo a few things seem to have been brushed under the carpet with no clear idea what happened (wouldn't be surprised if there is still something going on behind closed doors)
Few months later.....club vs country row sparks up, lands on fifas desk, more annoying work for them to look at when they should be out spending billions in the Bahamas.....oh look, it's Liverpool again!
Let's drag this out to piss them off

I'm sure Cameroon stated that any player who puts it in writing would not be selected - to my limited knowledge our chap didn't write so was picked in the provisional squad.
If correct, we don't have a leg to stand on.Those that hid Anne Frank were breaking the law.
Those that killed her, were following the law.

FIFA need international football to fund their cushy existence. If all the top stars pulled out it would be less valuable and they would actually have to work for a living.Originally posted by Robbie-9-Fowler View PostIt isn't the army ffs, if you don't want to play, why the **** should you be punished?Football without Origi is nothing

I read somewhere that the Cameroon FA are refusing to recognise his (and a few other players) retirementOriginally posted by Bender View PostThe Cameroon Football Federation are not responding to requests for comment. It's all very messy. #LFC espnfc.co.uk/liverpool/stor…
That is why they called them up, and although they werent named in the eventual squads the Cameroon FA are refusing to release them as punishment for refusing to play for them
So essentially FIFA as usual washing their hands of it (as per usual), whilst Cameroon FA act like complete cuntsBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."

I think they have a problem with a number of players and it looks like they feel the best thing to do is punish those players to set an example for the futureOriginally posted by McDermotX View PostIt's certainly the way to get the player get back involved with his national setup next time around.

According to the club statement Matip had "previously communicated his withdrawl from consideration for international selection" to the Cameroon FAOriginally posted by kev776 View PostI'm sure Cameroon stated that any player who puts it in writing would not be selected - to my limited knowledge our chap didn't write so was picked in the provisional squad.

I know there was an article earlier this month from the current coach saying Matip had a problem with the previous regime and despite his retirement he was planning on calling him up and forcing him to goBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. Whole thing is a farce....Fifa will wash their hands of it and go with Cameroon...no doubt somewhere along the line Cameroon have greased their palms and have some dirt on Fifa, so Fifa don't want to go against them
Fifa don't want to devalue international football as without it there is no point in the organisation
Cameroon want to **** over the players they will feel have let them down
All comes to one complete cluster ****i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do

But they're okay with Messi using retirement as a political tool? Maybe retirement should be made permanent or at least a minimum length of say, 2/3 years? It'd certainly add legitimacy to it and players who have no interest in playing being able to actually think for themselves.
Also, what if a player is eligible to play for more than one nation, say a 17 year old who looks promising but isn't yet good enough for.. Spain? But Andorra call him up? he rejects that opportunity. What stops them from having a grievance? After all, the players seem to have little choice in playing at a FIFA tournament.Vive la France

It's complete bull****, it seems that Cameroon have refused to accept his retirement and called him up on that basis, if that is the case FIFA will uphold that and will punish us if we play him.
The question is what is the punishment likely to be if we were to play him? A fine for the club? A ban for Matip? Expulsion of us from cup competition if we play him in a cup game? Points deduction?
The problem is challenging FIFA/UEFA rules through the CAS typically impose greater restrictions on the player/club that we would get by just accepting the bull****, which is completely unfair, but is why nothing changes. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
