Any move outside FIFA & CAS jurisdiction will mean a suspension during those legal proceedingsOriginally posted by baitman View Postpeople have mentioned that matip would be banned from playing if there was a fifa inquiry, but doubt the same would apply if it was the european courts.Bob Paisley - "This club has been my life. Yep, we're over a barrel, might as well just wait for this poxy tournament to end. FIFA have fecked up with PR on this tournament by their dithering and have effectively just painted AFCON as a punishment to Europe+rest of the world. Bet African countries and their sponsors are loving that.
Anyone know who's won in their group games so far? Anyone care? Exactly. One tit for another.

Why should you? The Cameroon FA aren't his employer, they don't contribute to his salary. If he doesn't want to play he shouldn't have to and he should be free to make that choice without such draconian reaper cushions.Originally posted by Maxiedge View PostI don't know what to say other than if you are retiring from International football un-amicably and you want it to be concrete and to hold withstanding power for any future complications that may arise, you really should do it in writing.
Bit of a doo-doo there from Matip and his advisors.
It's like telling someone flipping burgers in a newcastle McDonald's that they need to go and spend weekends flipping burgers at King's Cross burger king or they'll have their stars taken off them. Frankly it's madness and I'm not entirely sure how it's not in total violation of his personal freedoms.A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

International football is trying to take over , with the world cup being expanded and all this club v country **** no matter who it is . called up if injured just to prove you are.
Massive power struggle going on at the moment , can only see the clubs breaking away and starting a new governing body if this keeps up.

Yeah, I've wondered for quite a while why this havn't happened yet. I mean FIFA and UEFA really have little power to swing with. All players are going to go the club path because it pays the majority of their wages. It's hardly like FIFA etc. are the lawfully and rightfully deciders on footy set down by a multilateral agreement between countries.Originally posted by gratziani View PostInternational football is trying to take over , with the world cup being expanded and all this club v country **** no matter who it is . called up if injured just to prove you are.

Yes national FA's hold the commercial rights atm., but really who is going to sponsor them when no teams are there to play?

To be fair though, they're not forcing him to go and play. They're just saying you have not gone through the proper procedure of International retirement and a complaint is being investigated.Originally posted by Rowan View PostWhy should you? It appears that this is the caseOriginally posted by gratziani View PostI am not getting this at all
SO new England manager comes in and calls up Milner , does that mean they can stop him playing for us if he doesn't go ?
It appears to be at the discretion of the FA to call up and impose any ban
The English FA appears to respect the wishes of its players, and doesnt call them up against their wishes (once retired) they would maybe ask them to reconsider but beyond that no enforcement nor punishment
Cameroon FA are clearly punishing any players who refuse to play (whether retired or not)
Theres a few things wrong with this, besides forcing players to do something against their wishes (tantamount to slavery really)
How motivated are those players that are forced to play going to beBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. I'd go out and sweep the street and be proud to do it for Liverpool if they asked me to."
