I doubt we'll see him again in a Liverpool shirt.
Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."

With Kabak in particular we do not really have the luxury of giving him a couple months to settle in as it is only a six month loan.

Davies I have no idea about as I do not think I have ever seen him play.

I think it would be one of Hendo and Fab as the senior centre half for a start and might be like this for a while until they get used to the way we play. Davies has got time to cement himself a future here but Kabak has to hit the ground running pretty much straight away.
          Are we winning?

He’s got 6 months to settle in & show enough in training to get the gig next season. It’s ridiculous to put pressure like that on a 20 yr old that’s moving to a new country Fredo. Sounds like you’ve identified the new whipping boy already.
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

Nope. It's just the nature of his contract. The club could have signed him outright if they wanted, but it seems they aren't rushed into it.

surely that was a covid spin put on the negotiating tactics. If Schalke were prepared to take 60 quid a week for the next 100 years we'd have probably signed him. I think so anyway.

He now has a 6 month trial. Could be a brilliant move all round. Hopefully.

Why spunk the cash now when we can check him out for 1/2 the season for a million quid?

Try before you buy is a great option Even if we wanted to buy him outright this delays the date that the deal was done by 6 months so kicks any payment plan a further 6 months down the road, hopefully by which time the financial climate will look a little healthier.

To be fair it is a bit of both imo.

We do have six months to check him out, however one of the two CBs we just signed is going to be need to step into the first team asap and the more obvious choice is the guy on a shorter contract as whilst he has played less career games than Davies he has played against a higher leevel of opponent than Davies.

The alternative is to try and blood the new guys slowly and have to get by by taking Henderson out of midfield to play at the back whilst Fab is out (meaning we are down two starters in the centre) or if Fab is back we would have to be using Philips/Williams beside Fab whilst letting the new guys settle in in the background.

My own guess is that at least one of the new guys will be going ito the first team fairly quick (and by fairly quick I mean within a couple weeks unless Klopp really wants to go hard on one of them and drop them in against City) and that we may well see both of them start a game together in a month or so, so sometime in early March.

Davies is the one that we have the luxury of being able to break in slower to see what he has in a competitive game, but Kabak we do not have the time to break in as slowly because yes we can watch him in training to get an idea, but by virtue of him being on a short loan contract we have less time available to us to find out how he will do in competitive games.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

You have to feel that Kabak will be the one who we will try to get into the side first, he's the higher profile and has clearly been signed with a view to playing this season due to the nature of the deal, although it sounds harsh I feel Davies is the fall back option. I suspect Kabak will be starting fairly soon.

I think we’ve signed Kabak and Davies as a pairing and will look to get them together asap.

One is a left sided footballing, passing defender. The other is right sided and more of an outright defender and monster in the air.

We’ll have to make do as we were for the next couple of games, but I think soon after the City game we’ll start seeing these 2 together with Fab and Hendo back to midfield. Maybe Fab still plays CB in the really big games though.

Think that will depend on how they both get on. Know what you mean regarding playing styles but I think that Jurgen really likes to induct his players into the way he wants us to play. So i would expect to see one of Fabinho or Henderson play in defense for most of the rest of the season. Obviously more injuries could mean that goes out the window.
