Not everyone acclimatizes tho. I spent the first 18 years of my life overseas in the middle east and then the far east and I never really got used to the heat. In fact, the 40C+ dry heat of the desert was far more bearable than the humid 30C of the tropics.

Coming back to England is far more my style, I prefer the cold. The summer days here, where we hit 30, are often unbearable. Not so much the outside heat, but coming back indoors and your room being the same temperature as outdoors, there is no relief. UK houses need aircons!

Spent all my miserable 46 years in the city of darwin in australia. We get average low-mid 30s and usually 90% humidity. It drains you so badly. It didnt bother me as much when I was younger but in the last 10 or so years I cant handle it. If I didnt hide in the aircon all day I'd have suicided. I dont get how people leave colder places for tropic destinations. I want the exact opposite.

Yeah not sure I could stomach Darwin in the wet season tbh. Been there in the dry & it was beautiful weather, amazing fishing too just quietly.

Bit more recently...the past couple of summers it's been 28C+ in the bedroom at night, windows wide open, fans blowing and still roasting away. For 2 months of the year, an aircon would be a blessing.

And only gets worse with the global temps creeping up.

I hate humidity. I'd love to visit SE Asia and Singapore but I know I'll be comically sweaty. Having said that, we holiday in the desert which is often high 30s but dry. Soon as the sun goes down the evening is pleasant, but in the tropics it stays humid

Only during the summer - it's dry here for 8 months of the year.

I think it signals the end for him at the club and he'll be offloaded in the Summer. We may see him improve for the remainder of this season though, but he does like a sulk too.

I am the ultimate sweaty Betty, Norbs, but have adjusted to living in SE Asia for the last 2 years. Everyone just sweats, and it's socially fine, and you get used to it. If I can adjust, anyone can I promise you that!

The most humidity I've experienced was in the old town in Dubai one evening. My shoes were literally squelching

I was in singapore and malaysia a couple years ago with a friend, around february I think, cant remember exactly. Humidity was devastating. Again you'd think I'd be used to it having lived in this ****hole of a city. What made it alright was me carrying around one of those asian style plastic fans, you know the large round ones with a plastic hilt? Fanning myself constantly helped. At first I felt a bit weird doing it in public but after a little I realized it made me so much more comfortable that I didnt care. The forearm held out for the entire time no problem. But I was a commodore64 kid so this was basic level to me.
