Yeah but based on how they did for us it was the right decision to let them go. They obviously needed regular games in a more suitable league to reach their potential, I don't think they would have done that here.

The only other one I think we were happy to keep would be mignolet but even then I'm not too sure either. Can't believe Karius used to keep mignolet out of the team ffs!!!

Mig was **** too. Remember he fell asleep one game during a free kick. That was Rodgers, wasnt it? He didnt like Pep, even though he would release the ball in a fashion that suited his game. The he get Mig who distribution was crappy, and slow. Love to know who sanctioned that one

Mignolet we might have been happy to keep as backup but it's somewhat naive to think he would have been happy with that role long term, also I suspect in terms of wages we would have been happy to get him off the wage bill.

Camacho IIRC was essentially homesick or unhappy with his role, we might have liked to have kept him but it's difficult to see that he would have had a route to the first team. Hoever I think was just the situation of every player having his price and £10m given where he was at in his development was too good to refuse, maybe sometime down the road that will look like a mistake, alternatively we could be laughing that we got so much for him, who knows.

As of yet I don't think any of those three have done anything to make us regret those decisions however they were arrived at.

I think you have to go back to Suarez as the last player who went on to achieve better things, everyone since maybe they'd be decent squad players if they stayed, perhaps the likes of Coutinho and Wijnaldum could still have been more than that, but it seems they are the ones with the regrets.

Coutinho moved to real but was hardly a major influence in any of their success.
Suarez was a major influence at barca, even though they were already a top team, except at Anfield of course.

Yaaa was a good move for ings for sure- but I think LFC were happy for him to move on too, right? I remember thinking he’d do well somewhere else (obv didn’t think he’d do as well as he did).

But players like ings, Lucas, lovren, shaq, etc were players that the club were happy to move on.. I can’t think of anyone that we wanted to keep, who left (since klopp came in) and wouldn’t have regretted leaving…

Klopp was desperate to keep Ings and wanted Lucas to stay too, but put their needs in front of his own and let them leave.

Klavan left in similar circumstances too and perhaps why it's perceived that the club were happy to release them was because it ended on amicable terms and not played out in the media by agents.

And another probably more plausible explanation was that because the fans thought these players were ****, it's logical to assume Klopp thought the same.

Ings probably best example. He knew he wasn't leaving to have more success elsewhere, but he wanted first team football and to be recognised as a quality player, which he succeeded in doing.
