So his move hasn't gone well so far and now his people are saying it was a mistake. Beggars belief.

I think some of his below par performances were down to his mind being elsewhere. He knew he was leaving so naturally your effort tails off, it happens in most jobs. The focus isn't quite at 100%, at the elite end that can be huge.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostGini had some stinkers last season, not just less effective than usual, but poor performances. If he has a problem with people noting that, I guess that’s his problem.
But I do feel a little guilty, and I honestly didn't mean him to take offence to my endless twitter putdowns I gave him over the last 12 months. I just couldn't help myself. I said he was a poor man's nigel spackman after one woeful performance and it must of really hit a nerve. Poor Gini. PSG is such a loving all embracing club at least from the outside looking in. He'll be loved there. I'll probably turn my attention to Henderson this year.

To be fair he didn't hit the heights of previous seasons, but few people in the league did because of the condensed season, and very few in our side did due to the constant chopping and changing of players due to injury, and the resulting changes of tactics that occurred as a result.
I think that any drop in performance can be mitigated by the situation around him and while you might be able to find the odd performance where he had a poor game I think over the season he did as well as you could expect. He was certainly one of our better performers and was always in the side, I don't think we can have any complaints.

I'm in the "wat" camp too. He kept fit and at times held us together when all about it was falling apart. On average he had to be more defensive - both in terms of positioning and in terms of playing the safe ball - than previously (because of the injuries and repositioning and form of other players), and sometimes that meant he was not as progressive as we - sat up on high and able to see the whole thing - thought he could've been, but that sort of comment, which has been repeated by many, is part of what he was talking about last weekend.Originally posted by HamboCairns View PostWat?

Thanks mate, good luck in the new venture.

Class player & a great attitude imo, so under rated. Had a poor season for sure but he was not alone in that. He's tough to replace.
