****ing listening to dickheads on TalkSport saying he's not even the third best right back in the country because he's had a few bad games at the start of a season for the first time in his career.

The lad's phenomenal. Last year he was second in the Premier League assists table playing right-back (beaten only by "ball greedy, never passes to Mane" Salah). We all know what he can do.

Having played 181 games in 4 seasons before this one, he's not got off to a great start this season, and has made a few high-profile errors.

But for ****'s sake, we're not even a quarter of the way into the season. He'll be absolutely gutted that the world's luckiest manager isn't picking him for the England squad and he'll know he needs to pick up his form, but let's get a sense of perspective here. There's still plenty of time for him to turn it round this season.

Prediction - Southgate's luck runs out in the World Cup, England look **** without Trent, and he goes on to play a pivotal role in us winning something this season.

Think it is fairer to say that in terms of current form he is not one of the best right backs in the league at the moment, nowhere close.

Right now his form is such that he would struggle to get into a list of the most in form top five or even top ten full backs in the league. So what we will all be hoping for is truth in that expression of form being temporary, class being permanent. Personally think it is only a matter of time before things click again for him (and us) and sudenly he will be back to being lauded as the best again.

Ability wise we know how good he is, and how devasating he is when on form. Trent close to 75% of his best is one of the best RBs in the game, and Trent at 100% is probably the best RB in any of the top leagues with only Hakimi running him close in almost every department when both are on form imo.

On top form I have Trent shading Hakimi a little in attack and Hakimi shading Trent a little in defence. But I see them as being so close that you could almost swap them and neither of their teams would have to change how they use their RB/RWB position.

And yet we have no realistic replacement for him.

He need to sit it out as tactically we are not protecting him. Teams will continue to exploit the right hand side.

Yeah it's weird what we are doing offensively sometimes..Henderson was pushed right onto their defensive line at times. Like what the **** does that achieve exactly? Sorry but no one is worried about Henderson attacking them. Love the guy but c'mon

Belting goal and decent performance. Definitely benefited from having Hendo dropping in covering.

Would like to see that formation again.

Definitely more solid although we ll see just how solid when we play really good sides in the coming weeks.

The games either side of the two games against Rangers will be acid tests. Starting with the upcoming game against Arsenal.

I just don’t get this at all. More solid? His job is to create primarily, he’s not Nathaniel Clyne though, is he?

As ever, this is more subtle than meets your eye. When the team functions his defensive game is not highlighted and we see what he can do with the ball. So, all this furore was exaggerated (someone even said he could be finished like Dele Ali). Laughable.
                        Are we winning?

I said that. Could be. Player's form falls off a cliff all the time for a multitude of reasons. He's played 10 games this season and by and large been atrocious.

Hopefully he isn't just another millionaire footballer who can't be arsed anymore, Joe Cole, Bentley, Alli, etc. Because he's a generational talent - but you've also got to want it as well as having the talent. Hopefully he does.

It is not subtle at all, for me it was blatantly obvious .. his defensive game was not highlighted as Rangers are a terrible side and did next to nothing to attack down that side, whereas most other sides have targeted that space in behind him. Solid as a unit, 2 guys covering instead of just Fab. Hendo there marshaling him and covering for him when he barrels forward is essential. Not sure if that formation will work v better sides but we may see if Klopp goes that way against better opposition.

There may have been a certain amount of hyperbole anbout his performances. For all his brilliance going forward ( which has not been great this season) There is just no excuse for his lazy half arsed efforts in defending that he has shown this season.
