    But.

Switched off and they scored. Again.

Matip filled the space so it was fine as long as he went infield.. which he didn't

Hopefully ready for when we get back? Last I read he is back on the training pitch.

He should have done better for the first goal no doubt but the Blind chance he was left 2 vs 1 on the back post so it was much harder for the goal. I thought he defended pretty well and was ok going forward.

Still room for improvement but as least he resembled Trent as opposed to that imposter who’d be playing recently

Tactically there has been some adjustments to his game going forward. He pops up in the centre and sometimes as a centre forward now, which may explain that he’s not yet found the balance. It’s just not covering that right hand side, but Trent is a playmaker and our most prolific assister of goals these days. He’s incredible and I will allow him to have a few off days. Thought last night he was one of our best players.
            Are we winning?

His defending for the Blind chance was arguably worse than for the goal. If you go back 10-15 seconds before the 2 on 1 situation, Blind runs from the middle of the pitch out to his left, jogs passed Trent with his arm on the air calling for the ball and he’s about five metres ahead of Trent by the time Trent decides to get back in the box. Bergwijn got away from Fab late in the move to make it a 2 on 1, but Blind should not have had the enormous amounts of space he was given. No way can Trent think he was Thiago’s man.

Whether or not there is a tactical reason for Trent looking **** (I think that’s BS personally), the ‘new’ tactic clearly isn’t for our right back to ignore all of his defensive duties and whatever he’s being asked to do defensively, he’s doing it very badly.

I don’t think it’s tactical as some are saying, I think it’s attitude and/or mental fatigue

Sounded like the refs whistle blew when bergwin took the ball off Thiago, maybe Trent thought play had stopped?

Tsimikas was as much to blame for that chance too though, he got caught in no-man’s land and totally lost Tadic prior the cross coming in.

It’s similar to the sort of **** that we were seeing from Henderson in the first half of last season.

I think with him it turned out that he was playing through a injury issue which was hindering his work rate and ability to get up and down the pitch.

I don't think it is tactical as in Klopp says "Oi Trent baby, screw that chasing back business" but the heat maps are shwoing that he is taking up very different positions since pre season compared to the last few seasons.

They also show that whomever starts at RCM is taken up very different positions than in previous seasons.

If it was as simple as Elliot going into the RM and RW spot in an undisciplined manner game after game and TAA going into the RW, AM and CF spots over and over in a similarly undisciploned manner, prety much doing as he pleased, then surely Klopp would be smacking that down and fast.

It really does look as though both TAA and Elliot to a slighly lesser degree are playing in free roles or almost free roles.

I also think that there is a case to be made for a lot of the team starting the season undercooked rather than suffering from fatique (be it mental or physical) and that is hindering the getting up to speed process greatly for those players.

Either way it is baffling to see it (the right side of the team issues) going on game after game. Especially as we are now eight competitive games into a new season (nine if one counts the Community shield which I do not).

If he had a bad attitude, wouldn't he adopt the old positions where he looked like a superstar rather than make himself look terrible? He is out of position constantly, maybe he's just not getting it and walking because he can't be arsed

That brings us back to Klopp again. Do we think he would tolerate a player who was showing a bad attitude or if not a bad attitude one that was being lazy/not arsed?

All I can see if that he is not playing like he used to, not playing where he used to and is racking up far less assists (none in the last eight games) and goals (one in the last eight games, and that was in the Bournemouth game).

So he is giving the team less defensively at present and less offensively also. Plus it could be argued that he has been involved in a number of moments that led to either a chance or a goal for the other team.

Been a stinker of a season so far for him albeit over a small ish sample of games.

If he is proud to have a chance to represent his country then more power to him and the rest of our guys.

Might give him a chance to get some of his sub par form, by his high standards, out of his system in another shirt too
