50m is an easy decision in the last year of a contract. That is nearly twice the price they are talking about for Mane.

We have 4 players at the end of their contracts. Sadio, Mo, Naby, Bobby. If we let them all leave at the same time we have a problem and we can forget competing at the top for a few years.

For me we need to improve the midfield, I think that this is a long standing issue, partly because of the injury records of the players we have and partly because of the quality / consistency / age issues in the midfield.

While I wouldn't necessarily have been looking to move Keita on, we have reached a point where a decision needs to be made, he is about to enter the last year of his contract, the question is do we want to offer him a new one or not? Offering him a new contract is effectively saying we see you as part of our midfield for the next 3-5 years, be that as a starter or a back up. I don't think he's shown enough consistently to be a regular starter and would probably not represent good value for money as a squad player. To be honest I had assumed we would keep him for another year and let him leave on a free. If there is an offer of order £40-50m on the table that's a good deal for us in my opinion and selling him for that kind of fee seems like a no brainer.

I don't think he's a bad player, he just isn't the player we thought we were signing, he's done ok but never established himself as a regular, I think a move is best for all parties

4 seasons Keita has been here, injured and average. Few decent showings here and there but all in all, it's been massively underwhelming imo. Personally I'll be happy when he goes. That's not me "pouring scorn!!!!" over the poor fragile pro footballer either, I just don't think he isn't anywhere near the level of player we need in our midfield.

I also quantified why I posted the clip, not to pour scorn on the player but to discuss technique and what he might have done.

What is revealing about it ?
Why this level of detail for poor Baby, and not Mane? He's missed loads more chances. Some absolute sitters too

It's a shame Keita's contract expires next summer because he'd make an excellent bargaining chip for the transfer of Jude Bellingham.

Keita was excellent in Germany and I reckon he'd suit Dortmund to a tee.

It wasn’t hilarious to me. I was fuming when he missed it. It still isn’t funny after 3 or 4 days out.

I still cant get my head round how bad the shot was... I've watched it countless times for that very reason.

I believe in the multiverse. I don't think we are finding worse.

(yet paradoxically, that means better attempts exist).

To be fair, the shot doesn't reveal anything about Naby lacking technique, it was just a poor shot, which he should have had the composure not to rush. Remember the strike he scored against Chelsea during the season we won the league? It was an absolute cracker, so he has it in his locker.

No midfielder we currently have on our books have the ability to score goals on a regular basis, so he's not on his own there.

Having said that, it's quite revealing how some feel it's perfectly okay to pour scorn on the player over a wayward shot, and even go to the trouble to bring video clips as part of the pile-on.
