Keita replaced Thiago?... Would have Thiago done better?... probably so but like our corners these days, hopeless causes!

Personally I am not sure if I would want to move him from RB but it's potentially an option worth discussing.

I don't think he would be a good 8 at all.

He would not get as much time to dwell on the ball and pick a pass as he does on the flank and he would suddenly have to develop a 360 degree game in terms of watching/anticipating oppenents and looking for runs instead of usually having his right hand side be the touchline.

My gut feeling is that he could not quarterback games on a regular basis from a central role no more than say KDB could from right back.

He is one of the best in the world at RB and the amount of guys that might be able to replicate what he gives us from that position are low.

Hakami at PSG maybe but he is not going to be sold.

My feeling is if we want a top class 8, then it would be better to go out and buy one and then have our world class RB at RB continuing to rack up assists and our new top class 8 doing his stuff in the middle rather than pushing TAA into the 8 role and half doing the role and a new RB doing half the job TAA used to do in that role.

    I think that’s a step too far.

I agree he is, and maybe rotates with Hendo too, but you’ve got to hope the youngens push on and provide that competition next season, and then there’s the prospect of us adding to the midfield. If he looked like he was going to make the position his own, or that Klopp really trusted him, then we should be renewing asap, but I’m not sure he’s going to do that, and there were already rumbles in the press about him not renewing with guarantees of more game time.

With his contract up in 2023, he’s unlikely to be content to keep that role, so do we sell now and get a fee or let him leave next summer for free? I’ve no issues with him staying as a squaddie but reckon he has issues with it, so he needs to be moved on now.

    Just like Naby did

Yeah, I'm pretty meh about him now. He is decent enough as a squady but feels like we are still waiting for his breakthrough season where he really starts to dominate in midfield (by providing more assists and goals) we keep on waiting but not seeing it.
