Gini Wijnaldum had 6 goals and 9 assists in his first season.Originally posted by foresterbloke View PostHe needs some serious gym work.
I reckon he'll do a Wijnaldum and start dominating next season.
Not saying Keita won't improve, but its also a myth that Wijnaldum was ever anything but a class player.Y.N.W.A!!!!!!

He didn't hide like he did against Leicester. First half he was on the ball a lot but gave it away too easily. He got caught out defensively several times too.
Second half I thought he was much better.
I think it's clear he's improving at the moment. The more games he plays the better he'll get. Whether we can afford to give him the starts he needs in a title challenge is another debate.
And sadly he's become the current LFC scapegoat for many of our ****tier "fans". It was Fabinho only a few months ago, now it's Naby's turn

Dont give too much praise to him and turn on fans pointing out hes not playing well. His first half was horrid. The second half not as horrid. But you're comparing both halves. If you take that second half performance on its own without seeing the first half, he wasnt good. If that second half display was his proper level, you'd want him replaced too. Whether he gets better is a different argument. For now hes not good and should be a sub at best. On performance levels right now hes on par with Moreno.

How is he being scapegoated? Nobody has said he lost us the match etc, just that he's not playing well. Moreno, lovren, mignolet etc were scapegoated, ie irrespective of the teams performance, they were held solely responsible for bad results, ie made a scapegoat for othersTrey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

I really think he needs a run of games to get to a consistently good level during games. He does it in spurts at the moment. All is missing is the consistency. It's obvious he has enormous qualities, but for these to shine he needs time and patience and a settled midfield which will compensate for whichever attributes he is lacking at the moment.
Talks of him not being good enough etc are absolutely ridiculous. Are we winning?

Last night was the first time I saw more consistency in how he likes to play. I genuinely think people have got this idea that he's a Yaya Toure style player, but just go and look at clips of him, and you'll see that isn't the case.
Defensively, there's a lot of work to do with him, but attacking wise, there were positives for sure.

Maybe not quite being made a scapegoat then but I think he's being widely, and unfairly, blamed on Twitter etc.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostHow is he being scapegoated? His performance last night was nowhere near as bad as most are making out. He was one of our best performers in the 2nd half. People are almost waiting for him to do something wrong so it validates their pre-match opinion that he's playing poorly.
Underplay everything good he does and focus on the bad stuff. Guess what you were right all along you little football genius! Now, let's go on Twitter and tell everyone how right you were all along. Job done.
Not saying it's you doing this, but sadly loads and loads are.

But this is the thing, unforuntately we were dire in the second half. He was better than he was in the first half no doubts... which he could only improve on in fairness.Originally posted by Pablo View PostMaybe not quite being made a scapegoat then but I think he's being widely, and unfairly, blamed on Twitter etc.

I was waxing lyrical about him for last 2 year's, call a spade a spade he had been a total flop so far. That's not saying he won't come good, I pray he does but if it wasn't for the injury crisis he would get nowhere near that starting 11 on current form. I don't think anyone is using him as a scapegoat as there were worse players out there. IMO it's just a harsh truth at the moment that he's been poor.

I thought he had a poor first half and a good second half last night.
If we get Gini and Henderson and Trent back, he'll be back on the bench and we can stop arguing about him

I don't read twitter but the fact remains that Keita has been disappointing thus far. I had a dig into his stats last week to see if i was missing something past the obviously disappointing assists and goals. What stood out is how uninvolved he is in games compared to our other midfielders.Originally posted by Pablo View PostMaybe not quite being made a scapegoat then but I think he's being widely, and unfairly, blamed on Twitter etc.

His contribution towards the end of our last two games has been encouraging though. However i can see him being dropped when Gini is back etc so we may have to build him back up again.

fair point
It's hard for him in the place we are right now as there is just no room for forgiveness. Everything is so high pressure and intense that mistakes are magnified when there is so much on the line. If there wasn't so much at stake I would say it's great for him to get game time, like every other player trying to make their way but we do need the other lads back as you said.
