He's a ****ing idiot. After a stop start season and not settling properly, the last think he needed was to to go off with the national team and playing football when he clearly wasn't fit enough to play. I fear a similar season to the previous one for and he'll only have himself to blame.

Guinea have never qualified for the AFCON as far as I am aware and Naby is the national icon in football. I get that we see this with a Liverpool lens but for Naby this would've been a massive career aim for him
He would try to pay through the 'pain' same as Salah in the WC last year - they are national idols and it means so much to them
What we have no visibility to is what training/recovery programme they had him on to get him fit. They may have screwed him as well as **** pitches and opponents trying to maim him.
This shows he has got guts to play through the pain even if it messes up Liverpool's plans. I'm annoyed but I understand why.Comment

It's been reported that he was pressured to play against his wishes.
The Guinea manager certainly admitted to pressuring Liverpool to release him.
He had a torn adductor, there's no training programme that's going to fix that.
He needed to rest it, and at best he was only allowed half the recovery time needed..

It's a tough one I suppose, same as Salah in the World Cup, he was nowhere near fit to play but still did. Enormous pressure for these individuals to play for their country, Salah struggled initially last season too before he kicked on.... he did not need that World Cup at all.
Big season for Naby, stop start last season & looked fairly timid and naive at times. He's clearly a lovely footballer but we do need him fit and firing and we 100% need a good solid pre season with Klopp into him. IMO it would do him the world of good.
But yeah relapse so predictable playing in this particular tournament, hopefully he can get fit asap and push on. It's a weird for me as I still am not seeing him as an integral part of the side this season, I forgot about him on times last season too. It's not that I don't rate him or don't want him to succeed... he just hasn't done much for us to get excited about & I think I was guilty of bigging him up a bit too much.Last edited by danperkins; 04-07-19, 12:22 PM.Comment

It's a great situation to be in with him, if he gets to his RBL levels we have a phenomenal player and it he can do it under no real pressure.
I don't think we over hyped him because he was that good, I think because Salah got the ground running we wanted/expected the same from NabyComment
