apparently we sounded him out early in the year.

Lemar, VVD and any credible alternatives to these 2 and the fact we failed to get Keita this yesr.Originally posted by RedReet View PostWhich is fair enough, but who were the 'first teamers' you were referring to?
We signed Salah, secured a deal for Keita and only other credible link I can remember is Lemar. If anything Lemar screamed panic buy, back-up if we lost Coutinho at the last minute.
that is 2 from 3 of his main targets plus Lemar were unavailable this window and nobody to buy as alternatives. Those that hid Anne Frank were breaking the law.
Those that killed her, were following the law.

Would definitely like to see him cut down on the muscle, at times it looks like he's running like a big chested muscular power sprinter, but looking at old vids of him when he was younger, his running seemed much more easy unforced and natural, as did his ball control.
I'm pretty made up with the signing though, as he seems to have the right character, is keen to learn from a Managerial God, while still looking to enjoy his football, and when a team enjoys it plays.Last edited by Vermilion; 05-09-17, 02:23 PM.

TBH, I only read the first few comments on each, so knock yourself out. I also didn't say everybody was against the signings, but that there was scepticism.
Re. Matip: I think you wanted him playing DM as he didn't seem cut out for CB.
it's mixed comments but everyone came around to both singings in the end.
In regards to Matip, yup I did and I was wrong.

I think people are getting a bit carried away with this.
I'm sure there are plenty of well built footballers, Ronaldo being one example who seems to have did ok. I think part of the problem with Gomez was that he was injured and overcompensating on his upper body, which was why Klopp told him to reign it in a bit.If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Bit of vanity going on me thinks, he even tried to squeeze into a size M top for the medical.Originally posted by foresterbloke View PostI reckon he's been going hard at the weights and Arsenal's backroom team just let him get on with it. Contrast that to our management of Gomez. Perhaps we'll see a similar outcome?

He's basically got a bodybuilders physique. He's not remotely fat, he looks pretty lean, but he'll appear that way in a kit compared to the other players.
I did notice in the England game's that he uses his upper body strength to his advantage. He outmuscled players on several occasions. It's a pretty impressive weapon combined with his pace.
That said that level of upper body strength does seem a bit OTT and I wouldn't be surprised if Klopp asks him to drop a little muscle mass.
As other's have mentioned he did it with Joe Gomez. I've also noticed that Sturridge now seems a lot thinner, and I'd guess this was also a ploy to reduce his risk of injury.
