From what Paul Joyce has said it isn't ACL. I play with a guy who did a similar looking injury and it was hyper extension with some minor ligament damage to the PCL or LCL (can't remember which), which is around a 2 month recovery so not too bad hopefully for him.

Total ACL tears are rarely from impact...usually from turning and getting a foot stuck - a lot of the time no impact is involved. Looks more like a medial ligament. I did my ACL and was able to walk around in no pain straight after, so having his leg buckle under him is no guide to the seriousness of the injury.

I was certain he'd cracked the top of his tibia by the way he couldn't stand after and was clearly in immense pain.

Agreed. All your leg buckling shows is instability in the knee which could mean a vast number of different diagnosis

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain out of World Cup

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will miss a third successive tournament with England after scans yesterday confirmed that the knee ligament damage he suffered against Roma will rule him out of the World Cup as well as the rest of the season.

The news of the Liverpool midfielder’s injury has hit Jürgen Klopp hard and the player spoke to Gareth Southgate, the England manager, after realising that his hopes of going to Russia were in tatters. Oxlade-Chamberlain suffered the injury when tackling Aleksandar Kolarov in the 5-2 victory and was carried off in the 18th minute.

It is understood that he did not suffer a cruciate ligament injury, which would have meant a lengthy rehabilitation. Liverpool hope that he will return for pre-season training at the start of July.

“Gutted I won’t be able to play any further part in our Champions League run and also the World Cup,” Oxlade-Chamberlain tweeted last night. “However this pales in comparison to how the family of the Liverpool fan badly hurt before last night’s game must be feeling. My thoughts are with him and his loved ones.”

Oxlade-Chamberlain missed the World Cup in 2014 after injuring a knee during England’s warm-up matches and was on the sidelines for Euro 2016 with a similar issue.

Southgate recalled the 24-year-old for the games against Holland and Italy after his displays for Liverpool, having overlooked him at the end of last year.

The news has complicated England’s plans, with Adam Lallana, Oxlade-Chamberlain’s Liverpool team-mate, edging back to fitness after a hamstring injury. Lallana hopes to start training within the next week but Klopp’s resources are stretched with Emre Can still absent with a back problem.

That's awesome news to read he hasn't done his cruciate ligament and could even be back for the start of pre-season. I'm well pleased. Also great news to hear Lallana should be back in training next week.

Hope is is fit for the pre-season, he's quickly becoming one of my favourites, seems like a really likeable chap.

It will be an absolute shame for him, but if he was fit for pre-season, could be a blessing in disguise for us, with him missing the WC.

Assuming of course we can cope without him and bring home No.6.

                  Great news though if true.

In his Instagram he's been laid up with a heavy brace on, but i'd bet Kelly won't have a clue as to recovery time...

Probably the reason why we are (supposedly) moving so quick for Fekir.
