Nice try, oh how's that Salah thread going for you btw?Originally posted by Harv View PostHe'd already left. No need to lay the boot in
Yeah it's terrible for the club and the finances of the club when players leave that have been draining resources and providing zero value for money. Terrible to have those wages to offer to potential new signings. Just terrible.
Good one again Harv, we should just stick with laying the boot in on existing world class players instead imo

Should there never be room for human kindness? (The bloke had had a terrible injury and the club might have wanted simply to put its arms around him at that moment.)Originally posted by Charly View Postyeah... emotian over logic... Ihave nothing agsinst ox, but not a great business decision. Could have waited for him to prove his fitness first. its not as if he would run off elsewhere.

I should have said magnificent aswell. LFC freeing up 6.2 m quid a year salary that was taken up by Ox is magnificent. With Keita gone = 12.4m wages we were blowing away that now can go toward new players likes of McAllister to have and earn. Weird.Originally posted by Fivex View PostYou’ve got a weird definition of ‘glorious’

Agree with both of you, but imo have been prudent with a shorter contract under the circumstances with option to extend, rather than 4 years. But he was looking good after he came back iirc.
Ox handled it well; from the Guardian:
Liverpool, and the player, knew the full extent of the injury within days of the semi-final first‑leg win at Anfield but did not go public with the prognosis at the request of the England international. Oxlade-Chamberlain did not want the severity of his ligament damage to disturb teammates’ preparations for the Champions League final against Real Madrid in May and kept the news between himself, Klopp and the medical staff involved in his recovery.
Biggest mistake was ignoring his injury record in the first place I think, hopefully lesson learned there.Hello mert.

No issues with Ox at all. Terrific lad. Wanted to do well but incredibly unfortunate with injuries. His body isn't up to the rigors of top flight football. He might do better in a less physical league abroad but he's got a young family. One of the rare players in midfield on our books that was actually prepared to shoot from distance. Hope he gets a free run somewhere for last few years he has left. Go Lad.Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won’t expect it back. Oscar Wilde

Looks like you already said that actually?
Squad churn is a normal thing - impossible to have 100% of the squad perpetual high performers, stay injury free etc. I’m not rejoicing that some players left at the end of their contract since it’s just a normal thing that happens frequently.Hello mert.

His wages are now "finally" freed up for hopefully a quality replacement or addition that will provide value for money and which help buy new players to make us better.... like say MacAllister whom everyone is pretty excited about. Getting rid of dead wood, providing no value for money & replacing them with new shiny new talented players that can hopefully provide value for money.... is a good thing & a thing to be very happy about for us lot. We need make every penny to matter when we are up vs the likes of City, who can make lots of mistakes and not suffers the ramifications of those mistakes. I couldn't give two ****s about his feelings, he'll do better in life than all of us put together, he won't be calling the Samaritans any time soon. Club is bigger than any player and this is a good thing.
So in short, it's ****ing great he gone, good luck and good riddance.
