If it’s true that £80m is the price tag we would be mad not to go back for him, one of our best creative midfielders ever back, with basically Barca paying us 60m for a season long loan. Yes I’m ignoring the add-ons...Comment

I agree. I was initially opposed to this after his antics last time, but Barca was his big dream and it turned sour. He's probably learnt a massive lesson over this and probably appreciates what he had with us more now than ever. If we could get him back, I could see us being his last European club.
Lets not let him go elsewhere.Glass half empty clubComment

Financial.
It's a big loan fee. As Klopp said, massive, massive money. And for whatever reason, that's not happening this summer.
Also factor in FSG policy on transfer clearly is buy young sell for profit later. Coutinho is 27 and that cycle has ended (maybe earlier than ideal) but I can understand the pass nevertheless.
That said in the short term I think he'd work well given he knows our game, players etc. So I'm in the pro camp despite it being a nonrunner.

I think he's a good player and would like him back, and certainly wouldn't want to see him at another PL club.
I guess the question is where he plays, he doesn't really fit into the front 3 so it has to be a midfield role. I would like to see us play with a more creative player in there than we had last year, but does Klopp want to do that?
If we take our regular midfield last year as Fabinho, Wijnaldum and Henderson, does putting Coutinho in for one of Henderson or Wijnaldum give you enough workers in midfield? It's certainly a change in the midfield dynamic. That and the money are the only reasons I can think of.The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.Comment

Disappointed? Crap summer? If he goes on loan to Spurs it will be disappointing - he was our best player and although he shafted us (
) he could really add to our attack and midfield.
Everyone around us is strengthening and we just seem content with what we've got. I've faith in Klopp and Edward's but they are rolling the dice with the squad depth
Really.... I thought we were the champions of ****in Europe

Why would we want to bring someone back who isnt suited to our style of play? He doesnt have the engine or the willingness to press. He isnt dynamic enough and slowed down our play to a standstill. He couldnt cut it at Barca in an easy league with a myriad of good players around him and all of the time and space in the world
Happy he was our cash cow, we really ripped Barca a new oneComment
