I am not questioning that strategy. A lot of times it makes sense and when it works it adds that extra layer of romance to the win.
They have now gone for Koeman mainly due to the fact that he is a Barca legend.

And to be fair, until Houllier, we did try for the boot room connection.

Also my post was arguing against Messi's influence on the choice of managers. Maybe he does but Barca have long tradition of employing managers with Catalan or Dutch connection even before Messi was there.

It depends on how much of what we read is true. I don't doubt that Messi is consulted about all of the proposed transfers and even managerial appointments though. For me, that approach is dangerous..... footballers should play football. When he is signing a contract extension, then it is reasonable to ask about the clubs ambition, but he shouldn't be part of the decision making process.

The have 3 of the top 6 or 7 most expensive signings in football history against Bayern. Dembele and Grizzmann were on the bench - Dembele not even getting on the pitch. The other, came off the bench for the opposition, scored a few and assisted another.

They need to start again I think. And if they can get some £££ for Messi, this is possibly their last opportunity.

700m Euros in debt. 75% of turnover wages. Nuff said. With the wrath of Messi looming over important decisions for the club. It is a recipe for disaster.
